Superior Double Room is 450 meters from the reception and breakfast/restaurant. Not convenient if weather is not good. It's not easy to find nearby parking place. Room is bigger, but all furnishing and accessories are average.

When we booked they only had rooms in the annex but the location and price was good so we took it. It was a mixed bag. We walked from the train as the site says that it is walk-able but with suitcases it is not really a great idea. Then when we got to the hotel we were given directions to the annex which they say is 5 minutes but 10 is closer to the truth and again, with your suitcases, not the same as just walking. Also, the directions were not clear and it took us a bit of time to find it, once you know where it is it is easy, but get the street name that you turn on, we were told 2 streets but we must count differently as it was actually 3. Once you arrive, it is the back of a theater, the hotel portion is well marked but it is a bit weird.

Once we arrived we were very happy with the room. It was actually a 1 BR very clean and cool, we had a balcony and the location is great. It was hot and we were tired so the arrival was frustrating but when we settled we had no complaints.

We stayed at Hotel Toscanini in June 2009 for E145 per night. The rooms are nice and modern and we had no issues with booking and communicating with the hotel via the internet. The hotel staff helped us to arrange a guided tour in English to the Parma Ham factory and Reggiano Parmigiano factory (the latter was free) and book a rental car via the hotel. This meant significant cost savings versus booking with a tour agency for similar tours which would have cost close to E190 per person. The hotel also helped make dinner reservations for us. It is centrally located and is only about 8-10 minutes walk to the Piazza Garibaldi if you take the route behind the hotel to Strada Farini. It has not been reviewed much on Tripadvisor as I think that it is mostly frequented by locals however we were lucky to chance upon it while researching for places to stay in Parma. We came to Parma by train and it was about 2 mins ride from the station.

There are also some popular restaurants nearby like Sorelle Pichi, Trattoria de Tribunale and Ai Corrieri. The breakfast, which is included in the rate, is served from 7am to about 10am and has a few types of cereal and muesli, yoghurt, bread and rolls, parma ham, some types of cheese, tarts and pastries, biscuits, fruit juices and some fresh and stewed fruit. The breakfast room also doubles as the hotel restaurant.

We had a 4th floor room facing the river (and main road) however street noise was not an issue. The hotel is not large – only 4 storeys with 12 rooms on each floor. The rooms are not large but are modern and new and come with nice fluffy bathrobes and thick slippers, a fridge and safe, standing shower, quite a good assortment of disposable toiletries (including shaver and foam, shoe polish, toothbrush). Rooms have wall- mounted flat screen TVs but there are no tea-making facilities in the room.

The main downside would be for those who need to connect to the internet. The hotel charges for wireless internet access depending on length of access (eg. E8 for 6 hours) however you should note that you will not be able to access the internet from your room as the signal is patchy and only accessible from the hotel lobby (even so, only in parts of their lobby) and connectivity is slow and intermittent. The hotel website said bikes are available but when we asked at the front desk, we were informed that they did not provide bikes...

On balance, I would still recommend this hotel if internet access from your room is not a must for you. Parma is a charming, historic city, and certainly not as touristy as the larger cities in Italy. The downside is that if you don’t understand or speak basic Italian, you may have some difficulty communicating with locals in Parma as not everyone can speak English.

I was allocated in a room in a separate building about 500m from the hotel building. This gives you some sort of feeling of independency and either the hotel or this additional site is close to town centre, everything is easily approachable by foot. The room was clean and spacious with its own balcony. The only thing I'd dispute is that although the place seemed fairly quiet I got a room with disabled bathroom, hard to understand why. The size of the TV is about the size of my tablet.

Antithesis between the rooms and the techno clad neutral facade, Excellent basic room and view with furnishings for a 4* whereas the price was commodious. Quite on the river with excellent morning misty views that late cool March evening. An extraordinary recommendation to eat at the Corriere Trattoria 3' walk away. Not improvable but for the reddish granite red blazing lounge and breakfast room. Staff young, articulate and of good advice. Parking lot in front.

We stayed here for 2 nights in September 2003. The hotel was very quiet and at times we felt as if we were the only people staying in it.
Despite this they managed to give us a room which was directly below another being rennovated and we were woken up very early with hammering....not exactly what you want on holiday. The breakfast was very poor and tired looking and the staff not very friendly. On the plus side the rooms are big and the location is very central... minutes from parma's centre. The hotel was by it's best and not worth the money we paid.

I stayed in many hotels throughout italy but this was the nicest one by far. The view from my room overlooked the tranquil river and streets. The room was comfortable and I especially enjoyed the ample size of the w.c. usually, w.c.'s are quite stuffy. another nice touch was the breakfast that came with the room: lots of variety and courteous waitresses. I highly recommend this hotel to any one wanting a comforting, homey and reasonably priced hotel. not to mention it is a few steps from the heart of the city and in walking distance from the train station for those exciting day trips to bologna, florence, etc. A great hotel!

We had room opposite the elevator in the main building, so noise of passing fellow guests are audible. Furthermore in room, the carpet and aircon desperately need an update. Good to have free parking in front of the hotel. Mattresses old.

I was in Parma with a group to cook at Academis Barilla. At the same time it was a Foodfair and difficult to have hotel. We got our rooms in the annex - a long way to walk, when at the hotel. The lift was very special in the annex and difficult to come to right flat. And the door were difficult to open, too.I don´t chose the annex next time....
