Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We arrived at OStellin genoa late, however were welcomed with open arms. We were given a tour upon arrival which I think is a really really nice touch. So personal. The buildIng confused me at first. It is very old and it does look abandoned until the second floor (hostel entrance).I think this added to the mystique. I felt as though I was living in the servants quarters of a wealthy palace. In a Good way! Bedroom was fine, I would have preferred curtains. There was a bit of noise regarding construction being done outside. I did not love this, however it is not the hostels fault. The kitchen was amazing. Free juice! I loved that! Also free milk and cereal etc. People were very nice and social. Would suit a solo traveller or a group! The sink and toilets were not in the room. Two toilets are also showers so I had to wait ten minutes to pee at one point! Staff were so friendly and helpful. They provide locks if you need one. Would recommend. A very vibrant place with vibrant people.

I enjoyed my stay here, it was basically in the heart of Genova; close to many pubs and restaurants; close to Saint Lorenzo Cathedral; within walking distance of the main train station; and the staff were friendly. I would stay again if I revisit Genova.

The tour is the best thing we have done in our 3 months of Europe travel. There is honestly no point coming to Genoa unless you do Spyro's walking tour! Don't be deterred by the long duration, he has enough energy and charisma to entertain you for hours on end. Genoa is one of our favourite city's purely because we have learnt so much about its history and culture from this tour!

It was simply amazing! Perfect location to discover Genova. The place was clean, quiet and the staff very kind: I really appreciated their attitude in particular of Francesco, the owner. It was a pleasure to meet them and I hope to come again soon…

I stayed in a dorm room with a big window. Bed was comfortable but not private which was still ok. No AC and walk up a couple levels but the place was so welcoming. The staff were amazing and interacted with everyone and the kitchen had everything you needed to cook with. Waking up 9 or 10 am I smelled Tomato sauce or Pizza cooking from the dorm window. The hostel is in a Great location for the Historic area. There is a Really good Pizza place across the street and Marias Restaurant a couple alleys over. Laundry was 5Euro but the dryer didnt work. We hung our clothes outside but there were clothing racks to dry on as well. I would definitely recommend. Wish I was back there.

A really cute hostel with an amazing service! We arrived really early in the morning and they let us in, they offered us the couch. The minute a bed was free, we could take it. We really appreciated it. Thank you so much for everything!

I ended up in Genoa based on a recommendation that I needed to stay at this hostel after meeting someone in Milan. I thought I would give it a shot and happy to say it has been one of the best, possibly the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at. The staff are all knowledgeable, helpful and all around great people to talk to. The hostel was clean and well equipped. They did a community dinner every night with a different meal each night, prepared by the staff and it’s always good quality food. The hostel also did a regular Friday night outing showing a few of the local bars. The hostel building itself is amazing (as long as you don’t mind some exercise on the stairs) and the kitchen has a fresco painting to admire. They have partnered with a local tour guide that does an amazing job which I’m sure everyone will say you have to do it before leaving. I’ve had some of the best travel experiences here and could not recommend highly enough how good of a hostel this is. I even left to go to Naples, spent a few days in Cinque Terre then decided to come back to Genoa just for the hostel. It is so easy to sink into this community and it’s obvious why people extend their stays here...I did it again after coming back from Cinque Terre just to have my birthday here. Great work and thank you for the wonderful experiences team.

The staff was really friendly and helpful. The feeling is very homely and familiar. Good breakfast, but above all: great guided tour by spyros! It really made us see the city in a different way and appreciate all its quirks.

I need to confess that I did not stay in this hotel even though I wished to spend the night here with these wonderful people. I am an Asian female solo traveller , lost to Genoa on the train because the flight from Rome to Nice was cancelled, no friends, internet or reservations,I arrived at OStellin Genova - Hostel by accident. I arrived there at midnight, full of fear and totally exhauted after a long journey, received the warm welcome from hotel staff. Unfortunately, all of their rooms were occupied that night but they were so nice, not only call the nearby hotels to find a room for me(in the high season), but also gave me a map of the city and told me the way to get to that hotel. I know in this world, kindness is everywhere. I appreciated all their help and I wish I had a chance to visit OStellin Genova - Hostel one more time.

This hostel was lovely. Rebecca gave me a very friendly welcome and also the girl who just started, Niina, was very friendly. The day I arrived there was a bit confusing about the tour that normally starts in the hostel. At the end it didn't go so the guy behind the desk gave me lots of information (i don't remember his name anymore, sorry!). Also at night, when the reception closed we went on a little tour with some people from the hostel and the reception to a local gelateria. Also the location is in the center of the old town. Really worth staying here Thomas
