Casa Mario Lupo is located inside the old historic center of Bergamo upper town, very close to the main monuments of the city: the origin of the house is so old, dated aprox XV century and it was home of the notable family Solza, one of the most importnat and influent in the local history of Bergamo city. The ouse is rich of traces of the glorious past of this family, especcially decoraaed with a valuable colonnate; on the ceilings beautiful baroque frescoes dated XVII century painted by V. A. Orelli (Locarno) and F. Ferrario (Milan). Or guest can be easily transport by the unique atmosphere breathable here! The result is the fantastic mix between the emotion experienced here and the modern service of one the most appreciated guesthouse in Bergamo city

Lovely, friendly place to stay. Very clean and spacious in the historic area of the city. Landlord very helpful and accomodating. Nice continental breakfast each morning. Would stay there again, but maybe the elderly may find stairs a bit of a challenge and there didn't appear to be a lift.

We recently returned from spending a very enjoyable week at Casa Mario Lupa. The building is a typical medieval house in the small medieval city of Bergamo run by Gianmauro and his wife. The rooms are very large and the bed and pillows are extremely comfortable even for my very fussy husband! We had a lounge with a TV, kitchen area, shower room and separate bedroom which suited us very much as it meant that I could sleep while my husband stayed up later. There are very loud bells from the cathedral nearby which start at 7.30am with the last ones at 10pm. They didn't bother us at all as we felt they added to the atmosphere and acted as our alarm clock in the mornings! Breakfast consisted of tea or coffee, fruit juice, fruit and delicious bread rolls. The house is in a small quiet street near the restaurants, coffee shops, and venicular which takes you down to lower Bergamo. There is also a regular number 1 bus that will take you to the airport and the train station where you can get cheap train travel to Milan - one hour, Venice -3 hours, Verona and Lake Garda etc. Gianmauro is a wonderful host, very friendly is very helpful and has a great deal of knowledge of the area. He will also meet and return you to the airport if you don't want to take the bus. All in all a perfect holiday! Thank you Gian PS just one small suggestion, a couple of long life capsules of milk and some teabags or coffee upon arrival would be most welcome. Luckily we found the minimarket just as it was closing up for the day!

Just had a really good stay in a room in this lovely old building. It  is perfectly situated in  Citta Alta and very central to the bars , restaurants and  shops. It is very near  Cappa Colleni ( rub the shiny bit on the gate for good luck, but maybe check out what the symbol is first !! ) and the wonderful Basilica di Maria Maggiore. Funicular is near by too. Gianmauro is a perfect, gentle and friendly host who communicated promptly with me prior to our stay . He also ensured that we were able to get to the railway station in time for our train to Milan Garibaldi .

We have just finished a 2 night stay at La Casa Mario Lupo. What a beautiful place! Gianmoura is an excellent host, and welcomed us with such friendliness, even though we got there at nearly 11pm. Gave us a quick tour of our beautiful room, which was modern, clean, really well presented but with lovely original features and the room has definitely retained its character. Breakfast was at our convenience the next morning, and our lovely host put on an excellent spread of rolls, croissants, fruit, yoghurt and coffee- a great start to the day for exploring Bergamo! Couldn’t recommend this place enough- location is literally a stones throw away from the Main Street of la Città Alta. Only negative is that we couldn’t have stayed longer!

We had a studio with a terrace in this old building with a central courtyard. You don't get much of a view from the high windows, but the room itself is full of character. We enjoyed our own breakfast on the terrace. There is also a small garden for guests to use. No air conditioning, but we found this large stone building quite cool considering it was 35C on some days. The location is excellent for the old town. It is a quiet area apart from the 7.30am alarm call from the cathedral bells! You are very close to everything, including the funicular to the lower town. The number 1 bus is an excellent service connecting Bergamo airport, the train station and the upper town. The owner is very helpful and, living on site, quick to respond to requests. We had a lovely stay here.

Have just come back from 4 nights at Casa Mario Lupo. This is a great place to stay right in the old town of Bergamo. The accommodation is brilliant - room very spacious and very clean. We stayed in June with outside temperatures exceeding 30oC but room was always cool. You also have access to a nice roof top terrace which is great place to relax. It is located right in the centre of Citta Alta just of the main street, Via Gombito, but it is very quiet. The owner, Gianmoura, is brilliant - very friendly and helpful. If you are planning to visit Bergamo I would definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed at the Mario Lupo for three nights . The hotel is wonderfully located in the heart of the Citta Alta . The rooms are set in an 18th century building and are clean and well equipped . The owner , Gianmoura is so attentive and helpful. He even arranged our transport to and from the airport - and our return was at 4:30am ! We certainly recommend this accommodation for a stay in the truly wonderful city of Bergamo

Ditching our teenagers for the weekend, this was an imperfect Pied a terre for Milano, but in itself a wonderful quiet but central location. Nicely equipped, but be sure to ask Mauricio to turn up the heat. We froze all night in a weekend in May. The daytime temps in Milano were warm, but by the time we got back to Bergamo, it was unpleasantly cool without a jacket. About a twenty minute bus ride from the airport, a 2 euro ride. 5 euros to Milan, but be sure to catch the Trenitalia at 5 minutes after the hour to get the shortest ride, straight into the central train station.

This place is such a great find! Our host was polite, available and very friendly. He prepared us a lovely breakfast on the balcony instead of the breakfast room and gave us tips. We really recommend it!
