Our party of 4 rented the basement apartment, which is the home of the "secret society" that supported the unification of Italy. Very interesting to be embedded -- literally -- in the home of so much history. The apartment includes the ice storage room that was critical to the Gonzaga family fortune a very long time ago. The space is...

This will not be your standard hotel experience. The Palazzo Valenti Gonzaga was purchased by the Linare family a few decades ago and restored to its prior glory. There are 3 rooms, 2 suites above ground and one very large apartment (2 large bedrooms, 2 small bedrooms a kitchen and 2 bathrooms), one floor below. We stayed in the apartment....

I stayed in the DELUXE Suite "Stanza degli Stemmi", which was enormous, with a vaulted ceiling that is probably 10m tall. The suite had a main queen bed, with a second bedroom with a single bed available. Finding the entrance was challenging, however. The actual door was not visible from the street, but actually accessed from a courtyard. Then the...

My experience is exactly as another reviewer describes here, "I reserved a room at this "hotel" expecting something good given the reviews. Well. My husband started getting hysterical emails that we MUST arrive by 7 in the evening. Obviously, we never knew this before setting out on the trip. We arrived to the museo with the dramatic frescoed ceiling and...

Unique ambience afforded by the frescoes and statues surrounding you in your room. Breakfast in a gallery with vaulted frescoed ceiling, a magnificent chapel. Wonderful experience, a true gem. The palazzo hotel is located very centrally, within walking distance from all attractions.

What a fabulous place. The location was good as well within walking distance of the historic centre of the city but it is the building that makes this one of the most unusual and fabulous places we have ever stayed. The hotel is a beautifully restored palace. Our bedroom was the room of the Princess with the spa bathroom. You...

It is a truly beautiful place, very atmospheric. A warm and efficient welcome, and good advice and pre-booking about restaurants. The owners really want to help. We did not have (nor were we offered) the tour, but staying in our room , I did not think a need as believe we were in the best place anyway! We had a...

When do you ever get the chance to sleep in a Palace! This price is a real find. Wonderful welcome, friendly staff. Francesca looked after us beautifully - suggesting lovely family run restaurant, booking us taxi, etc. We stayed in the former chapel. Beautiful. Surrounded by frescoes & statues. Really well placed for the main sites in Mantova. Really visit...

The classic unassuming external appearance of an Italian building but when you get inside what an amazing sight awaits you. The noble floor in the Palazzo is astounding, the subject of a superb restoration that has brought the building back to life. The frescos, flooring and furnishings were all to an incredibly high standard. As was the Palazzo tour given...
