The Locanda is an unexpected oasis of peace and quiet in Milan’s frenetic city centre. The elegant 18th century building is in a pedestrian area dedicated to shopping.Once you arrive you can forget your car – you’re in the very heart of Milan, close to La Scala opera house, the Duomo, the Stock Exchange, and the famous designer stores on via Monte Napoleone and via della Spiga. The décor is the creation of architect Vittorio Locatelli, who loves combining refined warm pastel hues with rough, natural materials, following his fancy wherever it takes him. His intention was to furnish the Locanda so that people would feel they were at home. He designed four suggestive rooms, each with a beautiful flower-filled terrace, a rare occurrence in a city like Milan. The atmosphere throughout is pleasant and relaxed, and prompt personalised service is guaranteed.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hotel is at a location, right off a main shopping street. It is an old building. The room is big and have a high ceiling, with a modern touch. Bed is comfortable. I only passed through the city and stayed for one night, in and out. But I will definitely stay here again.

We stayed 4 nights in this lovely little hotel last week. The staff could not have been more helpful, Everyone was so friendly. We stayed in a room with a terrace which was lovely to sit out on, even in the cool weather. It is such a lovely, quirky little place. We'll definitely stay there again if we return to Milan

We stayed in a second floor generously sized corner Suite (bed combined with a seating area and kitchenette and a separate en suite bathroom and hall area). This arrangement was fantastic and we loved opening the full height windows to hear the city life. Double glazing ensured a quiet night’s sleep. Only occasionally did we hear the early morning waste collection. The location is superb near to the Centre of Milan and Brera. The cleanliness and housekeeping was excellent - thank you to the people who did this and always with a smile. Also we enjoyed talking to the lovely front of house people who always helped us with tips and arrangements for private cars to the airport or in our case, to Como. Breakfast is simple but fresh with eggs cooked to order, muesli and fruit. Extra charcuterie and cheese is a small cost. Loved the special cake when it was available most mornings. Breakfast is in a pleasant room beside reception. We stayed twice, once for 9 nights and then again for a night on our way back home to Perth, Western Australia. Wonderful stay in a lovely hotel with great, friendly people - makes all the difference on holiday.

15 rooms, out of which 4 are with terraces I believe. We had one with a terrace, and that really is great considering we’re very central on Milan. Room was not too big though, but big enough. Clean and tidy, bathroom big enough and beautiful. On terrace flowers and plants, fairly well protected from eyes, but obviously not from noise from the terraces next to it (if there’s someone talking). Mirrors on the room facing the bed. Friendly service. Breakfast is kinda buffet, but contains only a few things, omelett can be ordered without extra cost, but cheese/ham on your bun costs extra. Anyway, the breakfast served the purpose and the omelett was tasty. Elevator is tiny, but fits one person with 2 luggages. Instructions needed to find the hotel, but by reading carefully the instructions, not hard to find, just believe in yourself. Checkout at 11:00, what happened to old school out by 12:00? Malpensa express train station Cadorna at 10-15 min walking distance, takes you cheaply to airport in like 40mins (taxi 130eur). Location is great, on Via Dante walking street near by shops and these outdoor cafes/restaurants. And Duomo and high end warehouse Rinascente very near. And the more affordable Corso Emmanuelle, also Castello Sforzesco, worth seeing that as well, fairly big collections in there. Metro stations very near. So all in all, this small hotel was as pleasent as I was expecting. Try to have a room with the terrace.

The hotel was a struggle to find but otherwise ok. Very Central location and easy to walk to tram or train. The lift is only for one person and luggage 😆 The front desk was kind and helpful. The room was ADORABLE!!!! Small but not tiny especially since we had a terrace the size of the room. A/C worked great. Tiny bathroom but fine. Shower is narrow so no way to shave legs. Terrace was lovely and we had breakfast served there twice. The bed was board-like but so are the pillows so everything was supported and in the morning i was surprised I didn’t hurt. Sounds like a dream, right??? Ugh. The noise!!!!! 😔 Saturday night yelling from the Chinese restaurant under the terrace went until like 11p or 12am was tolerable, but the lady who was talking from somewhere went until 3am and it was so loud. Sunday… thought ok should be quieter. Yep until the early hours of the morning when the toddler who lives on the floor above was crying for an hour and all the rooms and hall lock with a click heard by all. Monday night also started ok, but the recycle truck took at least an hour starting at 0530 or 0600 to dump every bottle from all weekend and the noise was intolerable…. Followed by running foot steps above our head while a child ran around. I mean sure, they actually live there, but not so great when you are in vacation. Wish i could pick it up and put it somewhere vacation worthy.

Perfect hotel in the heart of the old town of Milan. Beautiful old building with a tiny lift to take you to the first floor reception. Staff are wonderful, very helpful, kind and patient with excellent English. Our room had a gorgeous terrace with sofa, tables and chairs, great for sitting out in the early morning or evening once the heat had abated a little. Our room had a huge bed, with quality linens and mattress/pillows, a large wardrobe with safe, good size desk and mirror and a large marble bathroom with an excellent shower. Plenty of towels and beautiful toiletries. Breakfast was really excellent - croissants, pastries, toast, yoghurts, cereal, fruits, eggs cooked to order, great coffee, tea, juice, and fabulous homemade apple cake on our first morning. The hotel is 5 mins walk from the Duomo and the Galleria, with plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and cafes in the neighbourhood. It is a quiet, very comfortable and welcoming place to stay in Milan, and I would very happily stay here again.

The hotel is perfectly located, in a quiet little street just a short (beautiful) walk away from the Duomo, the Scala, Castillo, etc. The room was impeccable and the staff was extremely kind, helpful and welcoming. I highly recommend this place and would definitely go back on my next stay!

Excellent location. Nothing is more than a 10 min walk away. This is what you pay for. Ermi (lady at reception, been there decades) was superb. Breakfast was simple and well prepared. We had a huge room, nicely furnished, however, the tiny bathroom was curious. Also, tiny elevator so rough with luggage. The pull out bed for our daughter was terrible. Mentioned it when checking out n they said theyd do something about it.
