My husband and I stayed at The Square Milano Duomo in late December 2019 during the holiday season. At first we were hesitant to stay in a hotel that is very centrally located, as we usually prefer to be in a neighborhood a bit removed from a city center, which allows to have a nice overview of the city as a whole. However, we are most certainly glad we did, as the hotel is in easy walking distance to major attractions, but it is just far enough removed to give it some distance from much tourist foot traffic, which is always our preference.

We have traveled much in Europe, and the staff at The Square are by far the most professional, organized, and efficient in comparison to other hotels that also had very high standards. Prior to arriving, the staff were ever so prompt to reply to emails about our reservation, and they were able to secure Last Supper tickets (with only two weeks notice from our arrival date) and airport transportation in a very expedited fashion. We are most thankful for the tickets! All bell hop, cleaning, restaurant and bar staff were great as well.

The entire hotel is well designed and maintained. The room decor was chic but comfortable and included a seating area as well as a balcony. We ordered room service and the food was very good with reasonable pricing and fees. The lobby bar was nice to stop in for a nightcap, which included small but generous appetizers (sandwiches, nuts, chips, olives, etc.) as part of the drink order. The breakfast room is very large and the buffet included a variety of meats, cheeses, fruit, pastries, hot dishes, bread, and more. The hostesses and wait staff were very friendly and most accommodating.

We are so happy with our stay in Milan thanks to our exceptional stay at The Square. The entire staff here very much bend over backward to meet guests needs.

We were very pleased with our decision to spend 5 nights at this well situated hotel no more than a 10 minute walk from the Duomo. Our room was spacious with tea and coffee making facilities and a complimentary bottle of water per person every day. The bathroom is also large and well equipped. We heard no noise from adjoining rooms and despite overlooking a main street with noisy trams our room was quiet with the windows closed. Breakfast was a typical city buffet. There is a restaurant, but reservations were required and we ate outside the hotel. Given the high prices charged in Milan for hotel rooms, we thought this offered good value for money - certainly not cheap, but much better value than other central Milan hotels. The hotel arranged limo transfer to and from the airport.

Me and a friend stayed for 2 nights from 28th August and booked a deluxe double room. Upon arriving we emailed the hotel asking for a nice room as it was for my Friends birthday and we were delighted with the room when we arrived. It was room 520 which was very spacious and had a balcony with coffee table and chairs. We paid for B&B which was on the roof top, it had a range of pastries, yogurts, fruits and juices etc but it was no longer self serve due to the pandemic. The waitress was very lovely behind the bar and put anything we wanted on the plate. It was quite clear from our stay and walking round the center how much the pandemic has ruined tourism with a lot of restaurants not being opened until September. I would highly recommend this hotel to all friends and family as only a 5 minute walk to cathedral / shops / Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Please visit Milan it will be so worth it! Thank you again The Square Hotel sorry for being noisy and blowing the fuse in the room..twice!

This was by far a five star rated hotel. Everyone at the front desk, and all the people that worked in a hotel couldn’t have been more professional, helpful and friendly. The room was small, but everything was kept too high standards. The bedding was excellent. The towels were very nice and all the amenities in. The bathroom were high quality, every day they gave you a fresh bottle of water complementary had coffee machine and coffee and tea, in the room to make coffee or tea. They have a nice desk area. The only negative thing I can say is they don’t have too many shows in English on the TV only CNN and BBC and after a week stay here I got pretty tired of of only news location is outstanding we could in a 3 mile walk most everything important in Milan tourist area They on premise restaurant, not only makes breakfast great they also have a nice rooftop area that you could have lunch and dinner in which I highly recommend air conditioning worked well quiet room. We even had a balcony if you’re planning to stay in Milan, I would check this hotel chain out. I think you’ll get good value And professionalism all the way

A perfect location within walking distance to the Duomo and the best of shopping. There is a wonderful roof bar and restaurant, although we enjoyed room service where the staff delivered pasta dishes Al Dente and at the perfect temperature. We had the pleasure of room 801 which is large with corner windows for a cross breeze and a spa like bathroom.

The hotel location is excellent, the service is poor, the rooms are nice (we had balcony) but lacking room (hangers/cubboards etc) for our clothes in the room.
My wife wanted to bring a cup of tea from the breakfast restaurent to our room and was told and I quote: "Not possible, you can order it over Room service and pay 5.- Euro's".
The Rood Top Terrace is just splendid in view - but impossible to get a table over 3 evenings when booking the night before as resident in the hotel!
Then we took a drink as a solution on the terrace and you can't debit to your room, so I had to go down get cash/credit card.
The staff at the Roof Top Terrace is not serviceminded, arrogant and not cooperative - lacking the understanding of "guest first".
The breakfast is OK, but not impressive, here the staff was effective and service minded.
Bear in mind The Square share its facilities with its sister hotel in the same building, so it is not a boutique hotel to put mindly.
We were disappointed particularily taken "value for money" into the equation.
We can't recommned this hotel as it is for now.

I chose this Hotel based on its excellent location. You won't find a hotel that is in a better location. It was at 5 minutes walking distance from the Duomo. I had been touring Europe with my parents. We are strict Vegetarians, which means that we don't eat breads containing eggs. Being a vegetarain, the options on the breakfast buffet are already very limited so atleast finding egg free bread is crucial for us. I emailed the property a week prior to booking the hotel to confirm if they had egg free bread or not and as youll see in the attached image, they confirmed that they did. I went ahead and booked the property. Upon arrival while checking in, we were informed at the reception that there is no egg-free bread. I was confused and I showed her the email saying that they would have egg free bread but she said no, sorry we dont. So I asked if it were possible to arrange some egg free bread for them because the only other thing they can eat at the breakfast is fruits. She said no. Disappointed we checked into our rooms. My parents went down to breakfast and carried some indian bread down to breakfast. I was still getting ready in my room. When I reached the breakfast buffet, I saw the restaurant manager being really hostile to my folks saying "go eat this in your room if you want, cant eat it here" Her tone was rude and demeaning (also because my parents speak broken english and couldnt really respond). I asked to the manager and he basically didnt care. He looked at me as though it was comical and finally ended it by saying yeah she shouldnt have said that and carried on with his day. This is exceptionally RUDE and unprofessional behaviour. As somebody who is in the hospitality business myself, I would never condone an attitude or behaviour like this. And to demean someone because they speak in broken english in a heavy touristy area like Milan is shocking (considering the lady who was yelling at my parents, her english was broken too.) IF you want a pleasant stay where you arent humiliated, then I would ask you to SKIP this hotel at all costs.

A nice hotel with an excellent buffet breakfast. Told reception well beforehand that we were going to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday and would like to upgrade to a junior suite which I was prepared to pay for. However, none was available but they did say they would leave a drink and some fruits in our room in the afternoon of her birthday. Unfortunately, I was had to go and ask for it and a drink was forthcoming but no treats. The barman in the bar near the reception is lovely and was very welcoming especially with the sandwiches and other nibbles. All in all it is a very good hotel and would recommend it if you want to stay in Milan.

I stayed at the Square Hotel in November for 1 night. I wanted a safe hotel (i was travelling alone) and convenient. I had to wait to check-in as there was a queue. However, once the reception staff greeted me, registration was fast and easy. They offered to take my suitcase to my room, but as it was a small rolly bag, I managed on my own. I had asked for a quiet room away from the street. When I got to my room, it was on the top floor, and I noticed it was right next to the terrace bar. I was not happy, but when I opened the door to the terrace bar, all the furniture was stored away. I knew that it was closed for the winter season and I would have a quiet room. The room was small but very comfortable. There was a little mini bar, a small bathroom with a shower, a very comfortable bed and a small terrace with a view of the city.
I ventured out and was surprised to find how convenient and central the hotel was to the Duomo, and main shopping streets. I felt very safe, walking around at dusk. The hotel is not in a touristy area which I think helped keep the noise level down. I had the buffet breakfast in the restaurant, which was a full spread of pastries, eggs, cheeses, deli meats, fruit and cereal—all fresh. I checked out the next day but had a 2-hour wait for my airport transfer. I waited in the lounge and had a glass of wine. The service was prompt and friendly. I would stay at the Square again if I were travelling alone. Great location, friendly staff and reasonable price.

This modern hotel is in a great location, the staff were unfailingly helpful, and the room and breakfast was excellent. However, we were on 10th floor, where the rooms are grouped around a small lift lobby, which also has the entrance to the rooftop bar and restaurant. This means that people leaving the bar late at night wait for the lift directly outside bedroom doors. We were subjected to loud groups of people waiting for the lift between 12 midnight and 2am on 14th April. The frequent burst of noise made sleep impossible. This is clearly a serious design fault with this part of the hotel, and if guests are to continue to be put in 10th floor rooms, they should be warned that their sleep may be interrupted.

You can easily take a train directly to Varenna , a beautiful town on Lake Como . It has very good restaurants, and lovely cafes right on the lake with scenic views of both green and snow capped mountains. Besides exploring Varenna, you can take a regular ferry and tour as much of the Lake as you want - and hop off/on at various stops if you’re interested. You can also hire a private boat or tour there as well.

I took the train to Central Station. Then cab. I see it is an 18 minute walk, but if you have luggage....I would take cab/Uber. Cabs are right outside. I 100% saw people running outside. There are areas without cars, especially by the Duomo. I was only there less than 24 hours, so I didn’t look around for gyms.
