Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Nice little family run hotel, about 20 minutes walk to town. If you're coming from Bolzano by bus, you can press the bell either as you're on the approach road, or just after you go fast the hotel. Both stops are less than 5 minutes walk to the hotel. Both the breakfast and dinner were really good and the staff lovely. Rooms are okay; old but well kept. WiFi (secured): flaky in the room, but good around reception. 4mpbs down, 0.2mbps up, 49ms ping (in room).

The Hotel Solaia is on the limits of Castelrotto but this is only a few minutes walk. It is an excellent option if you have a car but if you arrive by bus there are options in the town centre. Views from the property are excellent. This applies to most of the hotels in this picturesque town! The staff are friendly especially the lady who seems to do all the work! Serves breakfast, arranges the outside furniture, serves meals and at the bar!! Breakfast is included and is fine but limited hot options Rooms are a good size and extra clean. Our room had a balcony and was excellent. It was also the best value option when we booked one day before arrival.

It was not a terrible stay because the owners were nice and helpful and tried to fix things. There was barely light in our room in the evening, shower rather cold than hot and our bank next to bed was falling apart. Once we asked for improvement, we could enjoy an extra lamp, shower in hot water and sit on a different bank in short time. Nice move but with the extra lamp the light in a cave is still a better light. WI-FI only in the lobby area. For those who don't mind one sort of cheese for breakfast bread its OK, but for 174 Euro per room per night I'd like to have more of the choice. Tiramissu served at dinner and then again in the breakfast buffet was disappointing. The refills in the breakfast buffet come in 25% and there is always something missing. On Sundays they serve all guests with a welcome drink and bruschetta. Also a good try but unless you are a fan of glutaman you will find the food poor value. The hotel has a cozy atmosphere which brings you to 70s and keeps the questions of the latest investments unanswered. To be fair - apparently the spa area is nice. However, friends tried sauna but the hotel run out of towels for them. Unless you wish a peeling, you better bring your own towels anyway. On the positive note, enough of parking slots are available and the hotel is clean (but for the price it is a must). There were more kids than adults and it looked as a family-friendly hotel. With or without kids, we would still look elsewhere.

Stayed with my family in the hotel for a few day for outdoor activities in the dolomite Alps. Great food and very friendly and helpful staff. Very easy to reach just 30 minutes from the auto road and some bigger mountain cities. WiFi in the lobby worked fine. A great start point for hiking and mountain biking. Stayed in one of the suites with great view to the mountains.

Strategically located a five minute walk from town and only 60 seconds from the bus stop connecting Kastelruth with neighboring towns and ski area, we immediately felt at home here. It's a friendly, family run hotel and the rooms (we had a non-renovated one with a view to the mountain) are simple (wood and country style fabrics), but designed for comfort. The sleeping chamber is separated from the bathroom and outside corridor and noise insulated, the beds orthopedic, the bathroom sparkling clean. The wellness area is complete with a small very nice Finnish sauna. Breakfast and dinner are good and abundant with a choice of starters and entrees every day. Kids will miss a pool, but you can't have everything! The owner was accommodating when we asked for a change in menu for my daughter. We had a very restful stay at very good value and would return.

I stayed at Hotel Solaia for one week in summer, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone wishing to spend a relaxing break in the mountains. The location is fantastic, with great views on the Schlern (Sciliar) mountains and minutes away from the village of Kastelruth (Castelrotto). The hotel is very well-run by the friendly and professional Senoner family and their team. The food is excellent, although some times you may wish for more specialties from the local area of South Tyrol. The rooms are nice and very clean - mine was a single and the bed could have been more comfortable (the cupboard came up close to the end of the bed, not ideal for tall people), but there was otherwise nothing wrong with it, and the balcony was definitely a plus. I've also seen a double room on the top floor facing the Schlern as my parents were staying there, and that one was truly amazing, with a wooden ceiling, a very nice balcony and lots of space - all for only a slighly higher price. Simplicity and good taste abound throughout the hotel. A very large and convenient parking space at the back and a spacious, well-tended garden at the front also contribute to making this property a great choice for all those wishing to have a relaxing stay in a wonderful mountain setting. A public swimming pool and sports centre and plenty of hiking trails are all within walking distance, and the village of Kastelruth itself is very nice, it has excellent services and amenities without losing its traditional character.

Good for companies of skiers/snowboarders who come to explore Dolomiti region on cars (actually, there is ski bus stop right beside the hotel, we just didn't have to use it; when we decided to go to town centre for New Year's Eve, it took us about 15 min of quite relaxed walk). Breakfast buffet and dinner menu (not much choice with main course, but a variety of salads) are both good to get you energy before skiing day and feed your appetite after it. Wi-fi works only in the lobby, but it is very cosy - with the real fireplace! - and feels just right for the company gatherings. The sauna in the basement is also worth mentioning - alas, the heat is switched off shortly before 7pm. It was a couple of minor issues in the room, which were fixed by the staff at first request. All in all, it was a very good place to stay.
