Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.

Very bad service at this hotel. We booked in and when we arrived no one answered the door or their phone - eventually booked into another hotel. The next day they answered their phone any could not explain why they did not answer the previous night. They still delivered another

Of course booking.com, with whom you have made the booking, has been advised, and has given us reason ... we have waited all day ... simply you have decided to stay in another structure and did not want to lose the money. ..but it went wrong. the thieves are you, we are here to work, we waited for you until one o'clock in the morning ... shame.

I see where someone left a nasty review in May...but we were there in May and they were not. So, please ignore that review. I think it was meant to be left somewhere else. The hosts are WONDERFUL and the place is clean and homey. The breakfast is light and plentiful, along with

Host is extremely friendly and flexible. Staying here felt like home. We even recieved a call from them on the day of check-in asking what time we would arrive so that they would be there. They even explained us quite a lot of things about the city. Rooms are cozy and

this review was put by two spoiled young girls, with the desire to create a damage to us to take revenge for having to pay the costs for the damages that they created at home with their rudeness (they even left food smashed everywhere and ANTS...and I do not want to talk about the state of the sheets and the bathroom) I attach the review of another guest who was also surprised by this comment. I see where someone left a nasty review in May...but we were there in May and they were not. So, please ignore that review. I think it was meant to be left somewhere else. The hosts are WONDERFUL and the place is clean and homey. The breakfast is light and plentiful, along with the great coffee! Even cappuccino! I have stayed here many times and hope to say many more. So, let me describe it for you: Use your navigation app! It is off the beaten path and there are no signs. Google Maps will get you there, along with showing you the front door on Street View. Once you are there, you may need to call the host as they do not live there, but do live right next door. I typically will call once our boat lands from the airport, or when I'm at the train station. This gives them time to get home and to the B&B if they are out running errands (like normal people do). Yes, you will need to have your international phone service on. Plan ahead. There are two flights of stairs, so if you cannot carry your own bags, plan for that or pack lighter. This is Italy. Every business in every town has people living above, beside, below, everywhere. You're not intruding, but do be courteous. They are always either very kind or they don't mind you at all. And, there are few elevators (lifts) as these buildings are OOOOLLLLLDDDD. Very old. And elevators are expensive and destructive to old architecture. Plan accordingly. You are in a neighborhood, not in a touristy area...which we LOVE, but there's no nightlife and it can be difficult to find in the dark, so keep that in mind. There are 4 rooms, all comfortable and clean. You will share a bathroom with one other room. Be courteous and clean up after yourself. Others may not do the same. That is not the fault of the hosts, btw. They come through and clean once a day. If you ask them to clean the room, they will. Otherwise, they will assume you want your room left alone. Italian breakfast is light, sweet and quick. There will be juice, coffee, toast, cheese, jam, cereal, cookies, boiled eggs and perhaps a pastry. That's it. This isn't England. There will be no meat. :) There is a lovely deli in the courtyard just left around the corner from the B&B where you can get a panini if you're still hungry. There's also a pizzeria and various other eateries very close by. The restaurant in the courtyard is great for dinner. I recommend the risotto. if you go to the right out the front door, you'll go across a little bridge to a church that is beautiful inside! The bells do ring in the morning, but that's Italy for you! :) All of italy has mosquitos for 9 months of the year. Buy some spray or cream or both. The mosquitos are not the fault of the hosts, by the way. lol Luca and Itala are amazing hosts and you will love them so much! It is like staying with a favorite cousin. Enjoy!

At 160 euro a night you might hope for air conditioning. A shower that has running water. Floor boards that are fastened to the floor. Electrical sockets that are not hanging loose from the wall, and perhaps nice staff. A big NO on all counts. I advise all to avoid this place.

Kind (?) guest, Anyone who wants to have a correct idea of our place can go to see our reviews on Booking.com, where only people who really came here can leave the comment. It seems evident to me that you have any unknown reason to be so bad and unfair in your review.
