We spent three days at this bed and breakfast. We researched many bed and breakfasts over the internet prior to our trip and decided on this particular one based on it's location. It turned out to be a great decision as we simply had to board the Yanaguana water taxi at the airport, get off at the Fondamente Nuove stop...

We wanted a B&B near the Fondamente Nuove vaporetto stop, since we wanted to see Torcello. Mario was a wonderful host, and served us a great breakfast. He is also a lifelong resident of Venice, and was very helpful in giving us directions and also let us leave our baggage there most of the next day. The accommodations are simple,...

When we planned the trip to Venice we decided to stay in a B&B instead of a hotel. I found this place on the internet and made an inquiry by mail about the availability. Mario, the owner, replied almost immediately so we booked for 3 nights. Mario was very helpful in providing information about how to reach his place, about...

Extremely clean and quiet. We particularly liked the fact that it is very close to the fondamente nuove stop. Lovely couple.! If you don't mind cats, they have a very sweet and polite kitty. If we return to Venice again, we will stay with them again.

Stayed for 3 nights with my wife in late October + location: located near a major transit hub so very convenient going to and from the airport and train station as Venice is not luggage-lugging friendly. I felt bad for the tourists I saw that had to lug their big bags up and down the steps of the canals as...

Great location and great service. Room was exactly what we needed. Was only a few steps from the water bus and about 20 mins to San Marco which you didn't mind. Rate was good and I definitely recommend this bnb instead of a low star hotel for the same price Excellent host who helped us out when we needed it

This B&B is excellent for a quite lovely break in Venice. The room was very nice with everything we required and all the little details had been considered. The couple who run the B&B where exceptionally welcoming and made us feel at home and always wanted to please. It was good value for money in Venice and provided a nice...

A very nice choice in Venezia! My wife and I stayed at Alle Fondamenta Nuove B&B in June 2013 and it's mostly recommended. The B&B is a spare room at signor Mario and his wife's house and we couldn't ask for more. A quiet and lovely place, with a nice and comfortable bed and a nice bathroom with hot shower....

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
