Well this is the worst hotel I stayed at and I would suggest everyone to avoid this hotel. Having said that Venice is one of the most beautiful and vibrant places I have been to and loved every bit of the city. Good that the hotel compelled us to stay outside most of the time and enjoy the city and...

We had booked as part of a BA city break. The hotel was easy to find, not far from the bus station and train station. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room on the second floor had marvellous views of the grand canal. It was a bit tatty and the bathroom was substandard. The place was being refurbished,so I'm assuming the room was going...

Room interior was unique. It was close to the train station. They let us check in 2 hours earlier. Rooms were not very clean. Having to pay extra for WiFi in the 21st century just does not seem right (in the description it is not mentioned, just that the WiFi is available). Also - you pay per device. There is...

Booked a trip through British Airways, got an absolute bargain of £125 for flights and two nights accommodation with breakfast. The hotel does need a lot of investment and is very tired looking. However, it was clean and the staff were pleasant. For the price there is nothing negative about this place. The location in particular is perfect, being 5mins...

Good value for money. Very clean hotel with a great location for the airport bus and water bus station. Very easy to get around from the hotel once you have your main landmarks to guide you. Across from the railway station , walkable over a bridge to either.

The location of this hotel is amazing. It's directly opposite the train station, right by the bus station and right on the grand canal. The breakfast was really good too. The staff on reception were really helpful and one lady gave us hot water for tea for free which we thought was really kind. Those are the only good points....

The only reason I am giving this hotel a 2 is because the female receptionist was so nice and even got us breakfast ready to go the next morning so we could make our tour on time. The room was dingy and the smell of bleach was over powering. Honestly, we felt like the blankets hadn't been washed, my niece...

This Hotel was in a 2 day stay with a cruise so do know know the price that was paid. First thing yo say is the staff are brilliant can not do enough for you. Lobby looks fine, walk round the corner set of steps has a carpet that looks like my grand parents had in the 60s and i...

The room was clean just extremely outdated and old. The staff were friendly at the front desk, but someone was not always there, which was hard to get help or get your key to your room sometimes. Wifi is not free but a reasonable price. Great location by Piazzale Roma and the train station and walkable to San Marco which...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
