Enjoyed our first visit to Venice and chose this hotel, as it was close to everything. Not quite having a handle on the walking distance and the number of bridges we'd need to cross with our luggage if we took the public water taxi from the train station, we elected to reserve a private water taxi through the hotel at... Stayed here with my wife for two days. Comfortable and cozy hotel. Convenient 5-10 mins walk to Rialto or Piazza San Marco. Room was spacious & both days provided a complimentary water bottle in the room. Fully stocked mini bar with water & soft drinks, but we didn't use it. Clean, well lit bathroom with two sinks & full amenity... More

Well located, small (too small) and expensive for what it is (guess it is Venice). This is a "ok" hotel. Nothing too special about it. Staff is great and very friendly, especially at breakfast! Breakfast is good. Shame they don't have a proper place to have a drink. There is a kind of place but it is in the corridor... More

Lovely, traditional hotel, close to all the main tourist destinations. Easily accessible (being in mind such limitations in Venice), a very friendly welcome from all staff and a lovely, well-appointed room. Excellent breakfasts and good value all round.

I booked a 4 night stay for the first week in August as a surprise for my Fiances 30th as he'd always wanted to visit Venice. Perfect location, set right in the middle of Venice. The service from the hotel staff was 5* from the initial booking right through to our departure. A water taxi was arranged to collect us... More

Wonderful stay at the Aqua Palace Hotel. We stayed in a Junior/Family Suite which had lovely view onto the Canal, nice to watch The Gondolas go by. The room was beautifully furnished and accommodated the 3 of us, my Husband and 16 year old daughter very well. The bathroom was a good size with a fabulous walk in shower. Breakfast... More

We booked a 3 night stay at the Aqua Palace Hotel and it ticked all the boxes for our family city break. Very friendly and efficient staff, lovely spacious room and an excellent location right in the middle of Venice, but quiet and relaxed. The hotel arranged water taxi from Marco Polo airport for us - it is definitely the... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
