6 day of excellence, our trip to Venice to celebrate my wife’s birthday was always going to be amazing but the team at the Cipriani made it one of the best breaks ever. This was a surprise trip for my wife who didn’t know she was going to Venice until a few days before and didn’t know about the Cipriani until the boat pulled up at the dock.
From the first greeting to the final departure the staff team were full of smiles, humour and great service, sadly none of the staff wear name badges so I can’t give them the individual credit they deserve. The ladies on reception that I dealt with were perfect hosts coping with me fussing to ensure all was perfect for my wife’s birthday trip, we were given an upgrade to a lagoon view junior suite was beautifully appointed and immaculate throughout our stay with stunning views.
The concierge team had booked several tours for us to make sure we got to see as much of Venice as we could during our short stay, all of which gave as time and a guide to explore on foot and by boat, they were unfailingly polite and efficient.
Breakfast was plentiful and extremely good served by a great team smiling and friendly despite the restraint of COVID and extremely efficient
We did have a little problem one lunchtime when things went a bit wrong but young man in the bar could not have tried harder to make things right for us,and the Manager the next day sought us out to ensure we were happy, and we were !
On the day of my wife’s birthday everyone wished her a happy day ., fresh flowers and a cake as well as a card in the room added to her pleasure. We had booked a boat tour to Murano and the islands for the day and the inestimable Roberto ...one of the worlds great Concierge’s accompanied us to the boat singing Happy Birthday and explaining he had booked lunch for us at a tiny restaurant on the shore at Treportino used mainly by locals and very inexpensive..it turned out to be the highlight of the trip with some of the best food we have eaten anywhere and incredibly good value for money once again served by friendly smiling owners..thank you Roberto for making the day both special and memorable.
Sadly the trip had to end but a late checkout and sunshine meant we could make the most of this fabulous hotel and it’s amazing team of hosts.

At Marco Polo airport we were welcomed by a member of the hotel team who escorted us to a private water taxi that took us directly to the hotel. It was all super slick and upon our arrival at the hotel we were escorted to the library off the reception area for a highly personalised check in accompanied by a glass of prosecco before being shown to our room.

We had booked a Deluxe Lagoon View room for 2 nights which was beautifully furnished in a classic elegant style. Fluffy towels, frette dressing gowns, gorgeous linens and fresh flowers made a great impression. Prior to our visit I was concerned it would feel old fashioned but we couldn't fault it. There was also a bottle of prosecco and a rather tasty fruit tart as a welcome amenity.

Breakfast on the terrace was run by a team of italian ladies who were on their A game. They anticipated the needs of the guests and handled the occasionally demanding guests which such charm and ease it was fascinating to observe. Quality and selection couldn't be faulted.

What made the hotel was the pool, a rarity in Venice which on a chilly October morning was steaming hot and super inviting. It was also a lovely area to relax after a morning sightseeing.

The only disappointment was the bar which lacked atmosphere and the service was slow and uninterested. The decor reminded me of a airport lounge from the 80's.

The Cipriani had been on our bucket list for many years and we had an enjoyable stay. It's certainly not cheap but had a charm that many hotels lack these days.

You made us feel like royalty ( we’re not !) and we loved it. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with warm smiles and the service appeared effortless. Our Palazzo Vendramin suite was so romantic and there was a bottle of champagne and platter of fruit to greet us. Waking up every morning with a view across to St Marks square was so special. We popped across to the main island several times a day ( loved the trip at night especially when the captain played frank Sinatra) and relaxed by the heated pool in the afternoon sunshine. Worth booking a table at Oro in advance as there were just five tables for the chefs tasting menu. The menu was a complete surprise and the pumpkin pasta and tomahawk courses so divine. There was live music in the bar when we had our cocktails in the evening and we ended up making several new friends. Breakfast was special sitting by the water with a wonderful buffet including a huge cheese selection and unlimited coffees. Honestly we loved every minute and after more than 28 years of marriage felt like romantic teenagers again. A truly special hotel.

The name Cipriani carries a title associated with timeless elegance and the Cipriani hotel did not disappoint. It's only a 5 minute boat ride from St Mark's Square and I rather like the fact it isn't on the mainland. We felt more exclusive and the location certainly helped us feel a little more relaxed and less stressed, as Venice can get very crowded. Our bedroom was beautifully decorated, yet elegant and every wish was catered for. Also I must mention that our bed was extremely comfortable. No complaints there !
The food at Cips is fantastic and the views unforgettable. Most of all the staff in the hotel are incredibly friendly and helpful. Apart from the enormous swimming pool and the beautiful gardens, my most favourite thing about this hotel was the superb resident singer and pianist in the bar who provided an unexpected added dash of fun to our evenings. Live piano music just sets a hotel apart from any other. So BRAVO Cipriani and thank you for making my stay there so magical.

What a trip ! 3 night stay to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday. Firstly thank you to the hotel for the room upgrade, chocolate cake and bottle of champagne placed in the room all were fabulous. Room was large sufficient storage and spotlessly clean. Amazing Aqua Di Parma toiletries to slather yourself in. Only downside was they only had one key for the room but hardly a hardship.

Reception and Concierge extremely helpful when planning how to get to restaurants.

Hotel pool whilst pretty cold was again spotlessly clean and managed. Amazingly comfortable sun beds with glorious fluffy thick towels, complimentary water either still or sparkling

Great service in the bar, loved the guy with the hawk who has a tireless job keeping the pigeons at bay. Delicious bar food thoroughly enjoyed my prawn salad.

Separate review for Cips Club but in short definitely go and book!

Excellent private water taxi service day or night across to San Marco running roughly every 15 minutes

All in all one of the most enjoyable if expensive! 3 nights away we have ever experienced thank you so much.

Visited Cipriana Hotel at Sunset time, took the complimentary water taxi, a lovely feeling arriving at the Hotel. Had lovely cocktails Bellini and a Venetian spirit cocktail served in a Murano Glass overlooking the pool area. extremely elegant. Small size bites are first served complimentary, but then you can order more, and they are well worth it at 4 Euros a piece truly works of art by the chef, and compliment your drinks. Its a great way to visit the hotel, and feel a part of a famous Hotel, look around and see in the corridors famous people who have stayed there.

This is a summery of my experience at Hotel Cipriani Venice!

For me, this is Splendido Portofino together with Hotel Du Cap Eden Roc and a touch of Cala Di Volpe / Porto Cervo!

You must have right expectations, though. There are no large luxury buffets like Four Seasons, neither is there any correlation to the grandeur of an oversized Dubai luxury resort, if that is what you are looking for.

This is a small Grand Hotel with a huge heart and a fantastic ”repeat guest recognition feeling”, starting immediately at your very first visit. It gives almost the feeling of a small pitoresque village with a residence/hotel in the center.

All guests and staff contribute together to create the lovely ambiance, hence, you need to appreciate the unique atmosphere and characteristic guests and a slight demand that you should want to contribute to create the ambiance.

You should not expect the new Dubai-ish hotel room. On the contrary, you will just love the small imperfections that makes it all come together in a lovely way. It is a sort of personality that creates true luxury.

After visiting a massive amount of high-end hotels and resorts all over the world for more than 25 years, real luxury gets more and more difficult to define and obtain. To me, It is about searching for a special feeling/commitment; the perfect ingredients, the local bottled/filtered water instead of imported from across the world. It is about the perfect mix between personal and professional attitude. It is more about all that, than it is about excess in things and products.
Of course, anything you might want is possible to get, if you ask, but it is not on display!

The Cipriani Venice has a wonderful team, that will let you feel like its your home. Even when staying only for 1 night you directly get a carte Blanche to feeling that it is your residence.

The Olympic size saltwater pool, the views over Venice St Marks, the herb gardens (try the 64 different sallad starter), the private vineyard, the small shops, makes Cipriani just fantastic.

There are only a few hotels that knows how to make it all work in a relaxed manner, like Cipriani Venice. You might react to the rates at a first glance, but you need to take into consideration that it is a life experience that you are about to have and you will cherish it for the rest of your life (and probably come back).

We had a fantastic upgrade to a terrace suite last time we visited but I can promise, that even a standard accommodation with pool access is fantastic as well. However, I would suggest to book a few categories up from entry level (just as recommendation, depending on budget of course).

Thank you Cipriani Venice for a Perfect Stay.
//Peter

This weekend I had a disastrous experience at the Hotel Cipriani in Venice, after paying almost 2000 euros per night.

I booked through Amex Platinum Fine Hotels and Resorts. Whenever you make a reservation through Amex Platinum, you are entitled among other things to a free upgrade of the room category you have booked. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told at the reception that in addition to the upgrade offered by Amex, the hotel was offering us a second upgrade to a Junior Suite. Rarely has the reality turned out to be so far from our expectations. The room we had booked at the hotel is what they call a Premium Lagoon View Room with a terrace. In the photos you can see the images on the hotel's website when they advertise this type of room. The following pictures are of the room we were actually given, after theoretically having two upgrades. The view was basically a wall. The curtains had to be closed because you could see from the other rooms. There is nothing worse for the reputation of any company than to advertise a product, including photos, and then in reality offer a completely different product. An additional problem was the air conditioning which could not be stopped. This is easy to fix, the rooms are not.

After complaining about the room, the treatment of the "manager" was the opposite of what a hotel guest relations manager usually does. That is, insisting that we had been given an upgrade and how lucky we were. When a customer complains, they don't feel lucky. Given how old, ugly and small the room was, for a Junior Suite in theory, I don't even want to think about what the room we were supposed to have booked was like. Above all, how different is the room they offer in the photos on their website compared to the reality.
In a hotel of this type, you usually have a welcome note in the room. There wasn't, which is strange, unless they decided to give it to us at the last minute.
The food at the pool bar is ok, but with a very slow and clueless service, with friendly staff, good breakfast and very good dinner and service at the Cips Club.

Where this hotel of old rooms does stand out is in its gardens and in its summer swimming pool, very large, but with floats and huge inflatable dolphins, more typical of other types of summer establishments.

Opened almost seventy years ago, the lack of renovation weighs heavily on this hotel. You can't live off the glory of the sixties and seventies and the photos of the actors and actresses who stayed there for the Mostra.

If you are willing to pay 1,500-2000 euros a night there are much better options in Venice such as the Saint Regis (completely renovated) or the Aman hotel.

A special and elegant hotel which is a pleasure to stay. From the moment you arrive one feels a sense of well being and calm. The management and staff are polite, attentive, well presented and cannot do enough to make your stay more enjoyable.

The rooms are immaculate and very comfortable. Our room had fantastic views across the lagoon. The swimming pool is heated to th perfect temperature, for me anyway, and the poolside bar/restaurant menus will temp anyone to stay and relax poolside and forget about leaving the hotel. Arrigo Cipriani's famous bellini's are delicious.

The hotel offers its beautiful shuttle boat(s) to hop across to St. Marco square.

Personally speaking, this hotel delivers on all levels - luxury, friendliness, cleanliness, relaxation.......you get the idea!I

Grazie mille to everyone that made our stay so special - we will see you next year for sure.

I just came back from a 5 night stay at Cipriani, and I have fallen completely in love. The hotel itself is beautiful, and they think of every last detail. Our room was large and beautifully appointed, with fresh flowers, great linens and even a Dyson hairdryer (that REALLY impressed me!). The staff was perfect at every department, but the front desk and Concierge staffs were amazing. Cipriani has a private boat to take you in to the heart of the city, and it runs every ten minutes. They also have a beautiful Olympic size swimming pool, that was warm enough for us to use in November. We ate numerous times at their Cips restaurant (both inside and outside on their patio) and they were our best meals during our entire trip to Italy. My husband and I travel often, but right now the Cipriani is at the top of our list.

Dear Peter P, first of all thank you so much for your concern. As mentioned by our beloved Walter, indeed there have been more days of high tide or "acqua alta" than usual this year, however the city has been back to normal life for quite a while now and our hotel luckily hasn't been affected in any major way. We are very lucky and thankful for this! Please note that, as per usual, our hotel will remain closed for the winter and will regularly reopen on 20th March for the new season. We do hope to welcome you throughout 2020! Kind regards, Belmond Hotel Cipriani
