Went to Venice to celebrate a girlfriends 60th birthday. The hotel was absolutely stunning. The bedrooms were beautifully presented and the bathrooms were spacious with lovely complimentary products. The location was excellent, just minutes walk from St. Marks square with gondolas and water taxis available from the hotel front step!

Baglioni Hotel Luna is a lovely hotel steeped in history in the heart of Venice. It is comfortable and elegant with rich and lavish décor. The Marco Polo room where breakfast is served is simply stunning. Our room was of a medium size but was comfortable and tastefully furnished in a graceful old Venetian style. It did not have the...

Having stayed at the Gritti, Danieli, Bauer Palazzo and Metropole I thought this was the best. Exceptionally good staff, very well maintained and with excellent food, both breakfast and luncheon. We were upgraded to a suite with a view of the Campanile and the back of St. Mark's Square which was very interesting. The hotel has its own dock which...

This hotel is on the water so you can have a water taxi drop you off at the front door. The rooms were beautiful with a king size bed and a great bathroom. Our room was not ready when we checked in so we were given a free wine or beer at the bar. The location is great as walking...

We stayed here for a few days and had a lovely time. The hotel is in the heart of Venice, and is a perfect base for exploring San Marco and vicinity. The hotel is old but beautifully preserved and very comfortable. We had two rooms and both were perfect. The staff were attentive and provided excellent service. We had dinner...

This is a very special hotel. The location is superb being only 30 seconds from St. Marks square but it's the staff and the building itself that make it perfect for a special occasion. Beautiful reception area and stunning breakfast room. The breakfast is superb with huge variety and constantly being replenished. Our room was gorgeous and we were greeted...

We were looking forward to staying at Luna Baglioni. Unfortunately, there were a few issues which in the main were fairly minor, built towards a general feeling of disappointment about the hotel. The problems began with our check in where we were told that our room was not ready. We were early, so that was completely understandable. We left our...

The Baglioni Luna is beautiful and the staff were very helpful. Our room was a large with an especially huge bathroom, although no view. Breakfast...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
