Lovely hotel between a tiny street and The Grand Canal. There are shops and pizza places and lots of browsing on the street side and of course, the water taxi at the other end of the lobby can take you on a nice ride to St. Mark's Square. There is outside hotel seating here to really enjoy a glass of... More

This is a wonderful hotel. It is located on the Grand Canal. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. Service was wonderful. We had a.delicious variety of breakfast each morning. You can sit outside on the canal for a cocktail. I can not wait for our next visit.

Located close to train station. Located on the grand canal...our room did not have any view. About 20min walk to San Marco area. Room and bathroom size small. Luggage storage facility is good. Breakfast buffet good with variety of options.

Stayed in room 301, when we arrived had an issue with the lock on the door and staff responded and fixed promptly. Hotel was clean, room spacious enough, breakfast was very good . We would stay at this hotel again if we are ever lucky enough to get to Venice. This room didn't have a view, but we didn't care... More

LOCATION + 1 close to train station (Stazione di Venezia Santa Lucia), Venice is a small walking town and thus the hotel is very close to shops and restaurant, it’s located by the canal and if you booked a room with canal view then would be very nice STAFF -1 long queue for check-in, the reception was quite annoyed, he... Booked this via a travel agent. The room was basic and adequate. If I had booked it would have looked to upgrade, however, only here for 3 nights so no big deal. Air conditioner didn't work correctly, kept cutting out, a bit of a pain, not a big issue and in fairness to hotel didn't complain. Breakfast was a bit... More

A fine hotel in a wonderful location with magnificent views over the Grand canal. This hotel has all the conveniences of a modern hotel yet has still managed to maintain it's traditional Venetian charm with an ambience to match. All the reception and catering staff were most helpful courteous and friendly. The spacious bedrooms are classical Venetian. Our bedroom had... More

My title says it all. If I had not liked the Hotel Principe during my week-long stay last year, I would not be repeating it again in December. This is an old, classic, hotel that evokes memories of Venice's Grande Epoque, while simultaneously managing to keep itself modern. The rooms are comfortable (although some tend to be quite small), the... More

I stayed here for 3 night during winter with my " BIG & LOUD" family (19 of us ) as part of our Winter Holiday, and we just love this hotel. The breakfast is really good and have lots of choices. We have our early family dinner on Christmas Night and it was lovely as expected. The room is small... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
