We stayed at the Colombina for 2 nights in Feb 2017 with our 15 year old. We asked for a room with a canal view and we could see The Bridge of Sighs out of our window- there was also a small terrace. The room was venetian in decor style with the biggest chandelier we have ever seen. Bathroom was...

Arrived at the Hotel on Valentines day. Staff were helpful and the hotel was lovely and authentic looking. Me and my partner had chosen the classic double room with a canal view which was good value for money. The view was superb. However, just a little moan... the floor in the room needed a good dust! Other than the scrambled...

This is the second time I have stayed at Colombina and have been very happy both times. The hotel is well positioned, a few minutes from san Marco piazza with its own private landing stage. Coming from the airport by water taxi means that you have about two meters to walk from the taxi to the hotel door!! The staff...

On arrival the receptionists were very welcoming and when we got to our room - wow! It was incredible. A 14ft ceiling, beautiful chandelier, fantastic decor and after our first night we agreed it had the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in with pillows to match. We had a balcony that looked down a small canal to the Bridge...

My wife and I visited Venice during winter, so it was cold and flooded, but it didn't stop us doing everything. This hotel is situated near central Venice, the staff are friendly and helpful. Beautiful rooms. Good services. Would stay here again

Wonderful stay for Carnevale at hotel Columbina . The hotel staff could not do any more for you with some wonderful personal touches without being in your face . The location is less than a minutes walk from St Marks Square. Breakfast was superb and to sit out at night on the boat landing with a glass of great Italian...

We had a great 3 night stay at the Hotel Colombina, the hotel is ideally located just a couple of minutes from St. Marks and accessed over one of the many bridges in Venice. As a previous reviewer mentioned he rooms are extremely warm, even with the heating switched off, and we made the mistake of leaving a window open...queue...

Lovely hotel, very close to St Mark's. Location was perfect and we had a room with a view of the canal which we loved. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was excellent - with full cooked breakfast available, but some lovely Italian pastries were also on offer. A perfect trip to Venice. Would recommend the hotel. Only suggestion would have been tea/coffee...

We stayed as a family (2 adults, 3 teenagers 19,17, 15) for one night. Upon arrival the people at the reception were very friendly and the decor and hotel itself is beautiful and very clean. The rooms themselves were beautiful with old style decor and made you feel as though you were in some sort of a palace. The room...

I stayed at the Hotel Colombina in the Locanda Remedio room at the back of the hotel. It was in a great location – only 100 metres to St Mark’s Square but very quiet. The room was OK and quite large but the bathroom could have done with a bit of a scrub and a refurbishment. Quite steep stairs up...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
