The Colombina is centrally located in the heart of Venice, just a few steps from St. Mark’s Square. The noble Venetian palace which accommodates the hotel faces one of the world’s most famous gondola serenades canal and boasts a breath-taking view on the Bridge of Sighs and the spires of San Marco Basilica. Guests can feel the elegant Venetian atmosphere, surrounded by the quietness of the city, rocked by the serenades of the gondoliers and by all the comforts of a modern hotel situated in one of, if not the most, romantic cities in the world....Locanda Remedio is the dependance of the Colombina, it is rated 3 stars and is located in an annex building just behind the Colombina Palazzo and connected via a private Venetian courtyard.

We noticed this hotel on a previous visit and thought we would try it if we ever returned as it is in an excellent location, on a canal, with a short walk to both Rialto Bridge and St Marks but still in a relatively quiet spot.
Overall it met all our expectations and it is a charming boutique style hotel. Breakfast has sufficient choice for most people. We specifically booked Room 203 which is only available through contacting the hotel directly and has a balcony overlooking the canal and from which you can see the Bridge of Sighs. Yes you pay a bit more and there is an argument you are not in the room that much but Venice is one of those places where it's nice to push the boat out a bit.
The hotel had also arranged a water taxi for us from the airport and although not cheap it does bring you straight to the hotel's private dock and avoids having to navigate your way with cases from alternative drop off points.
Reception also recommended an excellent restaurant for our first night.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be happy to go back.

We stayed in a deluxe canal view room at Colombina for 3 nights in August 2023 while on a month long driving trip through France, Switzerland, and Italy. One of our reasons for choosing the hotel was that it is full service but seemed to be low key from other reviews, and it didn't disappoint. The front desk folks were friendly and helpful from our arrival and throughout the stay (including arranging laundry service which was returned the same day ahead of schedule). Manuel (who also was great throughout our stay and who seems to do a bit of everything) was gracious to bring our overly heavy bags quickly when we arrived which was very welcome after an 8 hour drive to Venice. Would highly recommend paying the extra for the canal view - the room was good sized, traditionally decorated, and looked out onto one of the smaller and quainter canals in Venice (we could see the Bridge of Sighs to the left, and discovered our favorite gondola station just to the right). The hotel is in a fantastic location, out of the fray but less than a 10 minute walk to St. Marks and lots of restaurants, and as mentioned a desirable small canal gondola service is adjacent to the hotel. We didn't try the dinner (though the menu looked good) but did eat breakfast which had a good selection though the dining room was quite busy while we were there. Finally, Stephano the bartender was extremely friendly and gracious all along, he suggested from the onset we bring drinks to outside seats in the back on the canal which was supremely relaxing, and on the last night brought us his specially prepared seafood appetizer which was amazing. We highly recommend Colombina and plan to return, this was one of our top 2 hotels (along with one in Tuscany) on a 10 city tour.

We loved Hotel Columbina! We had a very spacious junior suite (room #204) with a gorgeous chandelier and two big windows overlooking a canal. From our windows we also looked down upon a charming patio bar, open to the public at a nearby hotel (where we enjoyed an afternoon cocktail one day). Our shower contained a retractable clothesline - very convenient. The Columbina staff was friendly, professional, and always helpful. Everyone spoke English and graciously tolerated my attempts at Italian. The breakfast buffet was terrific and featured sliced smoked salmon (nova) - an unexpected treat we didn’t encounter at our Rome or Florence hotels. The location in the Castello neighborhood next to San Marco neighborhood was perfect with plenty of nearby places to dine and places to stroll away from crowds of tourists. The only negative: the blackout curtains are impossible to pull across given the extraordinary height from which they’re hung. However, the exterior metal shutters cover most of the windows, and, along with the thick windows, provided enough sound dampening to keep the noise from quick-moving late night party boats or 7am deliveries from bothering us.

We arrived to friendly faces at Reception and shown to our room. I t was smaller than we had expected and we went to Reception to see whether we could swap. Roxana at Reception was absolutely delightful, she offered us an upgrade to a Junior Suite for an additional cost but it was well worth it. Roxana and Andrea were both patient and understanding to our needs. I would recommend any guests who prefer a little extra space to book a larger room at the onset. ALL staff were lovely and helpful, they couldn’t do enough for guests, well done all the team!. The rooms are traditional Venetian so don’t expect a ‘corporate’ modern hotel. It added to the charm and really grew on us! Breakfasts were also lovely, with plenty of choice. The dining area is small and can be tricky to navigate. Once again staff could not be friendlier. You are made to feel nothing is too much trouble! The hotel is well situated for both St Marks Square and the Rialto bridge. We would recommend you buy a 72 hour pass for the water taxi (€65) from the airport as if you want to venture further, to the other islands it is €9.5 each per one way visit. There are a number of restaurants the Reception Team will recommend for guests, all very good. Trattoria Carletto is excellent for a special meal and worth booking. Thank you all staff at the hotel, we will return to you.

Wow!! This hotel is perfect in every way, the location is minutes from StMarks square but far enough away to have lots of restaurants and bars that are reasonably priced. It’s not a modern hotel but has everything you need with that touch of romantic elegance you expect in Venice. Taxis come upto the canal entrance of the hotel and we had room 405 which had its own private roof terrace with great views of the tower and the bridge of sigh’s plus roof top views all around. The room was very quiet too
If I ever returned to Venice I would only stay at the Hotel Colombina
Thankyou

We were a family of four (2 adults, 2 teens) travelling from Canada on a Europe trip. We had 3 days in Venice and booked this hotel based on some reviews we read. We were very impressed with this hotel! The location could not be better as it is in the heart of San Marco square. St. Marks Basilica and Doge's Palace are literally a 2 minute walk and there are lots of cafes and restaurants in the area.

Being a family of 4, we had to book 2 rooms and requested that they be on the same floor and on the side that the elevator is in. Andrea at Hotel Colombina more than satisfied our request. Not only were we on the same floor, but Andrea upgraded one of our rooms to a canal view room! I felt the canal view room was the best room in the hotel as it had a beautiful small balcony (with flags) overlooking the canal. My wife and I would have our espressos on this balcony watching the gondola riders below and they would all look up and take our pictures like we were royalty! They probably saw all the flags on our balcony and thought we were important!!

I can't thank the staff at this hotel enough for making our stay so enjoyable! Andrea, Roxana, Manuel and Mario assisted us in various ways (like arranging a private water taxi from the airport) and we send our love and appreciation their way.

This hotel is small, but it has everything you need. The breakfast room is nice and they had good options to get your day going. The servers here were wonderful too.

We went to 5 European cities and Venice was one of the best. It is truly like a beautiful dream that you don't want to wake up from! As first timers to Venice, finding a good hotel in a good location that lived up to our expectations was highly important! Colombina just made our trip that much more special and relaxing!

For a much better experience and much better price than the St Regis' of the world, this hotel is your choice!

We would highly recommend Hotel Colombina!

P.S. We had room 203 (canal view) and 208 so if you are a family of 4 needing two rooms, these are probably the best in the hotel!

Very very poor hotel. We wanted a drink at 11.04pm to the room and they said no. The bar itself holds no more than 4 people. Location is very good but bar service is terrible. Breakfast is reasonable you need ask for boiling water for tea as they just give hot water.

We loved our stay here. Breakfast was wonderful. Perfect location. Room was clean and quiet. Excellent service from staff. I am pretty sure this was the place with conditioner a a larger shower than other places we stayed. We would definitely stay here again. There is a place about 5 minutes away to drop off clothes and pick them up clean 4 hours later.

This could have been a great experience as the hotel is located close to landmark places in Venice. However, management was changed in Nov 2022, and the new manager is not guest focused, but looks to the financial numbers only- very shortsighted!

He refused to see us due to “meetings”, he was very unresponsive to our request to get a discount for a “no-show” due to a national transportation strike that made it impossible for us to arrive that day from Rome by train( which we informed them about as soon as we learnt about the strike.)

Furthermore, we had a very stuffy room, had to open the window and therefore had mosquitoes coming into the room biting us during the night. His brief comment was that A/Cs had to be turned off by law by Oct 15. However, any reasonable system should be able to just have fans going for air circulation. If you still go after Oct 15, bring a fan to be able to sleep or lots of mosquito spray.

So this has made this to be a bad experience for us.

I still give it a 3 thanks to the hardworking Esmeralda in the breakfast room who also arranged our cappuccinos in the morning, and front desk manager Tomasso who was very friendly and helpful with advise. And nice decorations in the hotel and it’s convenient location ( without luggage).

One point of advice, if you haven’t been to Venice before. And if you have lots of luggage. Do not take the public vaporetta ( water taxi) and then walk the “ 5 minutes” to the hotel. It ends up being 30 minutes, dragging suitcases up and down the stairs of the many little bridges over the canal. And also just finding your way in the little narrow alleys is a challenge as your GPS can’t properly find you.
If you can afford it, take a private water taxi right to the entrance of the hotel!

Otherwise, enjoy the beauty of Venice!

Dear 843matsg, I hope this message finds you well. Following our e-mail exchanges, once again, I can only say I am really sad of your disappointment and of your lack of trust in my words, however I understand I cannot make you really change your mind. I anyway would like to thank you for spending nice words on Evangelina and Tommaso as, for me and my staff, guests’ satisfaction is our priority indeed as witnessed by a large part of our customers. This is surely a matter of company philosophy, but also of investments in the professionals you mentioned, who I am glad to hear had been very supportive during your stay at the Hotel Colombina. Specifically, our Front Office Manager, Tommaso is right there with a shared delegation on guests' support and care, but it is also his duty to respect and make respect the company policies on which we agreed with guests at the moment of the reservations. I am sure you can understand that the national strike is an exceptional event and it would not have be right to take on us its economic damage, since, as I already wrote to you, in my opinion, your request should have been redirect to the train company which caused you this unpleasant situation. In addition, granting a refund to you only because you told us you are a major contributor TripAdvisor, would have not been right for the other guests who had been affected by the same problem, but also for my and our usual way of facing and following up with guests’ complains which, I dare to say, is characterized by transparency ed honesty. However, as clearly I have procured you a state of unpleasantness and frustration and I would really like to apologize for the possible communicational misunderstandings that might have been between us. With kindest regards, Matteo Rado

We stayed two nights in this hotel and we enjoyed it very much! It looks very much like the pictures with the exception that the room we stayed in (deluxe triple room) was much much smaller than it appears. It was okay because we were only there for two nights and we didn't spend much time in the room, but it was a bit cramped with three people and our luggage. Despite that, it was very clean, with no weird smells, the beds were comfortable, and we appreciated the blackout drapes. The bathrooms and tub/shower combo were really nice. Both of my teenage kids took turns soaking in the tub after long days of sightseeing. They provided plenty of towels (added bonus for the extra large towels), and even some cute slippers for all of us, which I thought was a nice touch. We ate at the breakfast buffet both mornings and to have such a variety, which included eggs, bacon, fruit, lunch meat, cheeses, etc. was such a welcome change to just pastries every morning. The staff who worked the breakfast were so kind! I do not know his name, but there was a man circulating both mornings who went out of his way the first morning to make me his version of a mocha latte because I was joking about how I missed them from back home. Then, the next morning, without me asking, he brought me a larger one than the day before because he remembered! I thought it was so sweet and thoughtful! As for location, this hotel couldn't be more perfect. It is really only a 2-3 minute walk to St. Marks Sq., but tucked away where it is quiet. We liked the cute bridge we had to cross to the entrance of the hotel. It is over a beautiful canal with gondolas passing underneath and other beautiful bridges in the distance. I had to stop and take pictures every time we went over, it was that cute. I would definitely stay here again.

Sorry, I didn’t see your question until now. But I agree with the previous response. The hotel gave us very clear directions for how to get to them. We took the water bus and then walked, but at 11:30 I’d recommend a water taxi. They’ll take you right to the hotel.

There are two buildings making up the 32-room Hotel Colombina near St. Mark's Square. There is the main building with upscale rooms -- some overlooking the canal running under the Bridge of Sighs -- and there is also an annex building, the Locanda Remedio, which has mid-range rooms.

Good morning. My apologies for the delay in replying to your question. From memory the breakfast buffet runs from 7.30 to 10.00. It's a continental style breakfast but I also found some bacon and scrambled eggs available as well. The coffee is a perfect kick-start to your day as well.
