The hotel was in good location between Rialto and St Mark's Square. While the bedroom was comfortable (fragranced!), breakfast was okay and staff was friendly but the TV channels could not be changed, safety box in the room wasn't working properly and wifi could only be accessed in the lounge area. To make matters worse, I was bitten by mosquito...

The Alcyone is a three star property ideally situated five minutes walk from St Mark's Square and three from the Rialto Bridge. This is as close to perfect a location as it is possible to have in Venice. In terms of finding the hotel on first arrival, whether one arrives to Venice directly by train, bus or car or comes...

I am very pleased that we chose this hotel rather than one further away as we had one very bad day out of 3 with torrential rain. The joy of the Alcyone is that it is in fact 3 mins rom Rialto Bridge stop (don't get confused my maps Rialto is all one stop with separate boat berths next to...

Helpful staff, good european type breakfast. Will make you Cupppiciano in the morning if you ask, at least 1, though I did abuse them on the first morning. Tip the person making them, it helps. Nice rooms. I read reviews on this place after we booked and they somewhat made me hesitant, too many Americans expect American hotel rooms in...

Just between San Marco scuare and Rialto. Everything in walking distance also other parts of Venice, Castello, Dorsoduoro and Cannareggio. Good restaurants nearby and many shops. Breakfast was a little bit plain, but ok.

0stars would be more worthy of this hotel. No hot water with low pressure. Tiny rooms not at all like the images on the website. Hairdryer didn't work, offered other rooms first one had a broken window and another broken hairdryer. Third and final room which we settled for after being refused a refund. Tiny box room with a toilet...

Only good thing about this hotel is its location. The rooms are the tiniest I have ever seen. I booked a 5-star hotel in Milan with the same amount I paid for this hotel per night. Breakfast was very limited and fruits were not fresh. It has no lift so be prepared to climb the stairs. They are charging very...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
