I was travelling alone and therefore had a pretty teeny room. It had, however, everything one needs! Really clean, freshly made up every day. Ample breakfast choices. I didn't need much from the staff, but everyone was very nice. And the very best part (besides the price: My room for a week in November cost me under 75 euros per...

My friend and I chose this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews. We are both 73. We were really happy with our choice. Great location, quite central, esp. d/t being close to Academia bridge, but away from big tourist mobs. Our 3rd floor room was small (Who needs big?), clean and quiet. No private balcony with our room, but there...

We have stayed here 4 times and it is excellent. Really helpful staff, good air conditioning (we've also been in winter when it was warm inside when it was distinctly cold outside), excellent breakfast. The rooms are all quite tight (as are all in Venice) but beautifully furnished and spotless. Fabulous location and easy to transfer from the Allilaguna waterboats...

The rooms, although not large, are of ample size, well furnished and so well maintained [cleaned]. The facilities both in the rooms and at breakfast are excellent and all the staff are so helpful! Breakfast is buffet style, but if you wish "extras" e.g. boiled or scrambled eggs there is a reasonable choice. This is friendly, family run hotel in...

This hotel ticks many boxes for the modest traveller. For me, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff has to be at the top of the list. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived to the moment of our departure. Coming a close second is the location. There are only three places where one can cross...

We moved from the Hilton Milano Stuckey where I attended a conference to the hotel Agli Alboretti. While the Hilton was great this hotel is what we look for when traveling on vacation. While some talk about small rooms, this is what we expect on older quaint hotels such as this. It is located on quiet street but easy access...

The Alboretti is a very well-run, small hotel just behind the Academia. It is very close to the Academia vaporetto stop and a five-minute walk to the Zattere vaporetto stop. The former is great for getting around the city, the latter is an express stop for boats to and from Piazzale Roma, the transport hub for arrivals and departures from...

The hotel is situated on a main walkway between the Lagoon and Grand Canal vaporettis (passenger ferries) so it is so very easy to find and get to from the airport, cruise terminals, bus terminal and all the major tourist places in Venice. There were no bridges to cross, no stairways and the hotel was always easy to find unlike...

Booked a double room, which turned out to be 2 rooms and new bathroom. Was very expensive the 3rd and 4th night of my stay, because of a city convention? Rooms seemed good value before I discovered the balcony let mosquitoes in and the main bedroom had a shutter, but no blind or heavy curtain to keep the sun and...

As a returning visitor, I can't praise this family-run hotel enough. It's able to keep the same friendly and helpful staff over the years; rooms are kept super clean and breakfast coffee is good! The location is perfect for getting around; between vaparetto stops on both Canal Grande and Zattere (where the Alilaguna Blu line provides a direct airport connection),...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated in the elegant "Sestiere" (neighbourhood) Dorsoduro Agli Alboretti is a fine family three star hotel meticulously run by Mrs. Anna Linguerri, helped by a dedicated staff, some of whom have been working here for many years. Enjoy the quiet, relaxing atmosphere of an ancient Venetian house, placed in a strategic position to visit the most interesting sites of Venice. The hotel is in front of the Accademia Galleries, very few minutes from Guggenheim Collection, St. Mark’s Square and Rialto bridge. It is near public transports for the City, the airport and the islands (Murano, Burano, Torcello) and therefore easily reachable also from Piazzale Roma (car and bus terminal) and railway station. All the 23 rooms at disposal are furnished in 19th century or navy style and have been recently redecorated. They are fitted with private services, satellite TV, wireless Internet connection, mini bar and air conditioning in Summer. They overlook either the large street Rio Terà Foscarini or some private inner gardens among which the courtyard of the hotel where, in Summer, breakfast is served. A lift makes easy to reach the four floors of the building and the terrace on top where guests can sit and relax. The curious name "Agli Alboretti" comes from the "small trees" that were planted along the street Rio Terrà Foscarini at the end of 19th century when the canal was filled in and transformed into a street. Venetians are not accustomed to have trees along the "calli" and they started to call it "the street of the small trees." ... more   less
