Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights during July, the hotel is not far from the stop on the water bus walking distance. Also very closely situated to st marks square the walk along side of the canals is enjoyable. We had breakfast included with our room with a good selection of meats cheeses and pastries. The only gripe would... More

We had a wonderful stay at the Bucintoro Hotel. The hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from St Mark's Square yet is away from the big crowds being in the Castillo region. I understand all rooms have views of the lagoon but our lovely wood panelled room with its four windows gave us wonderful views. The hotel was beautifully... More

Small hotel overlooking the harbour. Nearest water taxi stop is Arinsal. The hotel has a boat theme. We were on the first floor and had 3 windows with views across the lido and to the square. The room was a little small however this wasn't a problem because the quality of the room and the finish of the room more... More

Small hotel of 21 rooms with elevator. The hotel has a nautical theme, and from my room with 3 windows with the views of the lagoon I could almost feel I was on a boat. The bed was very comfortable, the amenities were high standard and the breakfast had plenty offerings. The staff was professional and the lady managing the... More

I went to 3 different cities in Italy and have to say Venice was my favorite. Hotel Bucintoro is so close to everything. The breakfast was far better than any others experienced in Italy and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are a bit small compared to what I'm used to in the US But the location is... Hotel overlooks the lagoon and is quiet location away from the st.marks crowd. Nice rooms and has a kettle with t & coffee and complimentary water biscuits and sweets which is a bonus. Pleasant staff and good continental choice at breakfast. On our last day our flight was in the evening and the hotel allowed us to leave our luggage... More

This was our second stay at the Bucintoro. We returned as the views from the hotel across the lagoon to St. Marks square and San Giorgio are just amazing. The hotel is ideally situated for the water taxis with the Arsenale stop just over one bridge. We had a junior suite on the fourth floor on the corner of the... More

Don't think you can get a better location for a hotel in Venice. Right by the lagoon with views directly to the Grand Canal and St Marks. We had stunning views from our bedroom windows. The rooms are good size with everything you would expect provided. Very helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast can be taken outside on the waterfront. Just... More

The hotel enjoys views across St Mark's basin towards San Giorgio. It is close enough to St Mark's to make for an easy stroll to get there, but away from the heavy crowds. The staff are helpful and friendly and the rooms immaculately kept. The Arsenale vaporetto stop is a few yards away which provides easy access to the vaporetto... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
