We r a family of 4 traveling to Venice. Chose Campeillo because of good reviews n recommendation from Rick Steves. It is a nice hotel. 1. Direction given by hotel - misleading.( I think management did not review) should try to use the direction from a tourist perspective. 2 M room is their attic room. Highly NOT RECOMMEND for people...

We visited Venice with our 13 year old, and having stayed at Hotel Campiello years earlier (2001, to be exact), we decided to make our stay there. This time we booked one of the apartments. Very large and not any more than one of the rooms (we booked early in the year). Staff was friendly and informed. Absolutely a wonderful...

Rick Steve's recommendation, and he is correct that it is a wonderful location. The accommodation is adequate, breakfast is average but the unhelpful and grumpy front desk spoils the reputation of the hotel.

Small boutique hotel about two blocks off the Venice boardwalk. It has a small elevator, so if you are traveling with a group or more than two suitcases each, you'll have to make a couple of trips. However, it's soooo worth it! The hotel room was typically European small, and we had two twin beds. The beds were the most...

We arrived in Venice early in the morning after a cruise and went straight to the hotel hoping we'd be able to store our luggage there until it was time to check in. When we got there, they offered us coffee and said we could have the room a little later that morning. They were extremely accommodating and the hotel...

Words fail me on how to express my feelings about this Hotel. It has an excellent location, is extremely clean and has a outstanding staff. Especially the Desk Man Romano. Also the breakfast is one of the best that I have ever had while in Europe. Plus being a gimp it has a very quick elevator to boot. All in...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
