Reception is at Hotel Bruno for the checkin/out for the apartments. The apartment was 5 mins walk from Hotel Bruno - situated near a square although plenty of activity around the apartment was quiet in the evening. Restaurants, bakery, supermarkets, cafes all very near - 15 min walk to Rialto and/or San Marcos - the apartment is situated on a...

Travelled here with my sisters and brothers in law. Very spacious, well equipped apartment, walked to Rialto and San Marcos in minutes. Supermarkets near by, restaurants, shops, tapas bars, bakery, wine shop.........apartment was right near to a square where there was lots of hustle and bustle but very quiet at night. Ideal place would definitely return and highly recommend

Stayed for 2 nights in February. Hotel is so central, 5 minutes from Rialto Bridge and 5 minutes from St Marks Square. On quite a busy street but our room overlooked it and we did not hear anything. Clean comfortable rooms with clean towels both days. Continental breakfast with plenty to choose from. Staff at reception were very friendly and...

We have been to Venice six times before but this was the best apartment we have stayed in - spacious, well-appointed and warm (important for February!). We will try to stay there again when we return - which we will while our son lives in the city.

We stayed for a week in a 2 bed apartment with a bath. Very comfortable and well situated for easy walking around the whole of Venice. Beds were very comfortable. It was well heated. There is a drip coffee machine but no filters available in Venice. Normal Italian coffee machine too. Hot water is not quite hot enough.

The hotel is between Rialto's bridge and Saint Mark square, so perfect for location. Breakfast at the hotel offer plenty of choices, which was included on the price of my room. Staff friendly and welcoming. Definitely a good option if in Venice.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
