I stayed at Hotel Flora in October 2014. The hotel is in a very central location close to everything including San Marco. The hotel is small and lovely with a little garden and the outside is covered with ivy. The concierge was friendly and helpful and recommended an excellent restaurant. The cake at the breakfasts was excellent and though I can remember...

This was our second visit to Hotel Flora. So nice to find a hotel in Venice with an interior courtyard and garden. The rooms are very comfortable if a bit tight in the bathroom. Just the absolute friendliest staff, with lots of good advice on restaurants etc. Tiny hotel bar but great prices on wines. If you want a real...

This hotel was the best stay of 4 cities in Italy. At night we kept our windows open to a courtyard and the peace and quiet was exceptional! The staff made this hotel feel like home instead of just a place to sleep. The magnificent breakfast was prepared and served by the most competent and life embracing gentleman! He literally...

Hotel Flora is convenient to everything. The room is large however to accommodate three of us a single bed was set up at the foot of the large bed. We felt we should have been charged the extra bed fee it the triple charge. The room was quiet with a nice view of the courtyard. The staff was friendly and...

My partner and I stayed at Hotel Flora in September 2014, and we absolutely loved it. The rooms are a decent size and the hotel itself is beautifully decorated in the typical venetian style. The hotel itself is also in a very central location close to everything including San Marco!... But what really sets this place apart is the great...

This hidden little gem has one of the best locations in all of Venice. Down the street from Piazza San Marco and a couple minutes from all the neighborhoods, you couldn't be better situated to explore Venice. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room was small, which is fine, but the heat couldn't be shut off. With mosquitoes...

Our family of 4 (2 sons aged 11 and 19) stayed in room 23 early October. The room was furnished with a large antique bed and a sofa bed which our sons shared. The room had a small ensuite which was not up to the standard of all the previous and much less expensive accommodation we had stayed in during...

The five of us stayed three nights in a family suite this past August. Initially we had trouble locating the hotel from our vaporetto stop, as it was hidden down a side street. The location was fantastic, close to San Marco. The room was spacious and had a good view. Staff was excellent, and the concierge gave good restaurant recommendations...

This is a lovely hotel. The staff was wonderful - the front desk, the breakfast staff, the bell desk. We stayed in the family suite. The rooms are nicely decorated, beds are comfortable, bathrooms are nicely kept. This suite is actually two separate bedrooms with a hall that connects them to two separate bathrooms. One bedroom has a comfortable queen...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
