Venice isn't a large island to explore. When we have previously visited we have stayed further out, but given that we were in Venice for New Year's Eve we wanted to be in the centre. You couldn't ask for a better location. The room and bathroom was quite spacious by Italian standard. Well kept and very clean. Despite the location...

We loved Hotel Orion! The staff was so friendly and helpful. They even offered to make us breakfast early the morning we left since it wouldn't be open yet. The breakfast was great, the staff was wonderful and the room was clean and quaint. The location is great too- right in the middle of everything.

Taking into account that location is Venice, this hotel go rating very good from me. It was difficult to find this one when wondering the streets, eventually found it and it was a good choice. Nice hotel with pretty central location in Venice. Room was clean, breakfast was ok. Nothing to complain, could use this again if travelling to Venice.

The room was a good size and had everything we needed. Wifi worked great. Location was close to everything! Breakfast room was great, nice variety and good food and coffee. The only drawback was that we were advised not to store food in our room refrigerator or eat in our room.

Me and my husband stayed at this hotel for our one year wedding anniversary. We stayed for a total of three nights and we had no problems at all! It was in a great location and everything in the hotel was nice and clean. The staff was awesome and very helpful. Breakfast was light, but it was very good! We...

Hotel is situated in the centre, close to St.Mark Square. As you find the buildings and streets in Venice, they are really narrow, same feelings when you enter to the hotel with huge luggage :). Be carefully, lift is missing so for elderly people or people with handicap can be problem. Rooms are very clean, towels changed every day and amenities on higher level than...

Prime location close to St. Mark's Square as well as restaurants, shops and perfect start for trips and sightseeing. Friendly service, e.g. to carry baggage due to missing elevator. Acceptable value for money compared to high prices in Venice.

Basic and limited in all respects. Steep stairs. Odd regulations which seem rude and not welcoming. Poor breakfast. Never saw a hotel witout forks. Luggage is kept in the corridor with access to anyone.

Dear Mr.Shlomo, usually we're glad to read TA reviews because we're always trying to improve our work, but in your case we can not do so much. You said that we have no elevator, and yes, we have no elevator, no great news about this: it's written everywhere! There are stairs, of course, and we bring up Guests' luggage, and...

We have recently spent a very pleasant few days in Venice staying at this hotel. We checked in and to our surprise were taken down the street a few doors away where at the top of the stairs were 2 rooms . The room was clean & perfectly adequate. We had to leave the key each time we went out so...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
