San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

Room was nice and clean. Staff were helpful. Brought a tray of breakfast and coffee to the room on 2 out of our 3 mornings here and waitresses didn't mind at all. Location was good for the main sightseeing points and nice restaurant with reasonable prices just facing the hotel.

Hotel Casanova was in a fantastic location, right behind St Mark’s Square. We requested a canal view and they did their best to do so! Could see the canal from our balcony. Our room was very spacious and cleaned fantastically every day. Breakfast was presented very well and many

You can get on an ATVO bus, which will take you to Piazzale Roma. From there you need to walk 2 minutes to a waterbus kiosk, from where you purchase the tickets. We paid 15 Euro one way for 2 people. Waterbus takes about 50 minutes and you need to get off at San Marco stop. Hotel is about 3 minute walk from the stop. Have fun, the hotel is beautiful.
