Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Perfect for city break - we chose this hotel based on price & location and were not disappointed. The room is basic but on a city break all that matters for us is somewhere that’s clean and we can rest our heads. The rooms have a very quaint venetian feel and our canal view room was stunning. Rooms were cleaned daily and we were able to store our bags after checkout which was very appreciated. Reception staff were absolutely lovely and the hotel is VERY central, the perfect place to base yourself in Venice. Very easy to access hotel when reception is closed as well. Thank you Al Vagon!

Everything was good except the loud music played all through late (till 2am) in the morning by the Juice bar right under the room. So don’t expect to sleep till 2am. Too loud. It out way all the good about the place.

Very good location, although a bit noisy at night. Room was clean. Ac was also noisy. They dont serve breakfast but there is a good restaurant in front of the hotel (Farini) which has very tasty sandwiches. It was good to have refrigerator and kettle in the room.

Overall very happy with our stay in this hotel. The location was excellent as it was central to the train station and the all the tourist attractions. The owner was very friendly. Although the room was small for someone who’s 6’2 it was well furnished and had all the basic requirements. The room was cleaned everyday with tea and coffee included. Great value for money and would definitely recommend if travelling on a budget.

I had booked the hotel Al Vagon for my first time trip to Venice in March. Unfortunately we had to cancel this trip as my sister is immune suppressed and it would be dangerous to risk her getting Corona virus. Venice has already seen a number of cases and there are travel warnings for Italy. I was disappointed that the hotel refused to offer any kind of refund given the circumstances. I emailed them politely and they denied that Corona was an issue in Venice and that “the problem should be resolved” by the time I get there.

We arrived and were cordially received by the proprietor. The room was spacious, clean, attractive, and overlooked a canal. There is a tv and electric kettle. The bathroom had plenty of towels. Each day the room was cleaned and fresh towels supplied. It is very centrally located, 5 minute walk to Rialto. There are lots of places for dining near by. Directly next to the hotel is Farini, which is filled with people all day, for breakfast (a vast assortment of cornetti) and lunch and dinner. My family liked breakfast there, but a quick lunch and dinner are great there. This was a great place for a stay. We'd definitely stay there again. It was excellent value.

Our hotel was room only, it was clean and the staff were absolutely brilliant. I would stay there again. The hotel was easy to find and was not far from the main railway station. There were lots of places to eat and drink, the location was perfect for us.

If you’re looking for a hotel with squeaky clean bathrooms, a comfortable bed, good service and a perfect location in the heart of Venice — Hotel Al Vagon would be a good choice for you. Located literally a 3-5 minute walk from Rialto Bridge and the vaporetto stop, it was a breeze to get to anywhere else in Venice. The room looked slightly dated, but that was thanks to the tiled floor and the bed cover. Removing the bed cover revealed pristine white sheets, and a properly soft bed. I was pleasantly surprised at the bathroom. I think they have newly renovated it - the shower cubicle was small but super clean, the sink was huge, toilet and bidet literally sparkling, new and modern — it was clear that the bathroom was newly done. In fact, the bathroom itself would have done well in a 4 star hotel. I am very particular about bathrooms and not easily impressed - so trust me, the bathroom in room 24 was really great. The farini below the hotel sells the best croissants and breads I ate in all of Venice, the hotel is surrounded by charming canals and the best gelato and other stores, and the area stays bustling well into the night. You can hear some of the folks below the hotel around 1am as they can be raucous. But if you are OK with that, this hotel is a steal given its price point. Special shoutout to their receptionist Mr. Arora. He welcomed us warmly, gave us very useful advice about Venice and always left us feeling cared for. Wonderful service!

Unbeknown to us, we had booked this one star hotel. Seemingly well furnished in a fantastic location for a ‘1 star hotel’ we felt reassured that our stay would be comfortable. Until we went to bed on the first night. The beds are horrendously uncomfortable. They have no cushioning, are rock hard and every spring can be felt. We both woke up with dodgy backs after a terrible sleep. I had to relocate to the couch/bed as it had some cushioning to catch a wink as we had been awake for hours tossing and turning. Being young and agile and ‘non complainers’ we mentioned it to the receptionist who couldn’t offer us any alternative. We also find it strange that none of the corridors have lights and we needed to turn our phone lights on to actually see where we were going. Perhaps reflective of the 1 star rating however very expensive in our opinion as many alternative accommodations offer breakfast and comfort rated 3 stars for the same price. Disappointed.

We stayed at this hotel in Sept 2017, leaving a review now as we will soon be returning there. The hotel is in an amazing location, literally 5 mins walk from Rialto bridge, and near loads of shops, Sephora being my fave (makeup lover). There are plenty of food places nearby, McDonalds, little cafes, there is a fresh fruit smoothies place just behind the hotel which is delicious! Check in/check out was smooth! Loved this hotel, will be returning to it very soon!
