Poorly managed, charged excess amount per day other than the amount already paid online at the time of booking. No bill given for the amount paid.. You have to walk out into lobby to access the WiFi. WiFi doesn't work in the rooms

After five years of traveling I finally found it... A 5 euro a night hostel for 40 euros a night! The noise from drunk people partying disturbed my sleep There was no lockers for security There was not sufficient power outlets for everyone in the dorm The wifi was pretty slow No kitchen, dinning room or space to chill and...

My friends and I had a lovely stay at Backpacker's House in Venice! The staff set us up in a room just for us with our own private bathroom and shower! Beds were definitely the most comfortable I've ever slept in at a hostel. If you're traveling solo, the hostel really is just a clean bed and shower, but it...

We booked here because hostelworld has not reported their ratings yet. We were surprised at the terrible condition of the building. Definitely not for claustrophobes--only for people with high tolerance for inefficiency, dirt and poor location. Everything was just tasteless--it does not feel like a hostel, only an apartment run by someone who needs to generate some cash from his...

This is a dirty apartment parading as a hostel. BED BUGS! I was bitten all over my arms, neck and face and when I spoke to the owner he insinuated I was lying and had gotten them from the hostel I was currently staying at despite my emailing him the night I left this place (emails were ignored). Owner is...

Despite all the negative reviews, I really enjoyed my stay at Backpackers House. Its more a Venician town house, than a hostel, so it feels really homely. There is only one bathroom on each floor, which did mean a bit of waiting around to use the toilet and shower although I always found it clean and the shower worked well....

Chose this hostel, because it was one of the cheapest in Venice. There was Wi-fi available, but that's about the only positive thing. We booked a 5 person mixed dorm (for 4 people). But we got a 3 person dorm while 1 person had to sleep in another room with some strangers. Not really a problem in general, but it...

Overall a poor hostel, we had booked a room for 5 people for the 4 of us but on arrival we were told 3 had to sleep in a room for 3 and one of us had to sleep with 4 random people which was already bit awkward ( and i read that more people had this, so i'm guessing...

Where to begin... Upon arriving we did not get te room we booked thus had to split our group to be able to spend the night there. The owner seemed lacklustre and gave the impression of not being able to run this place. The 3 person room where 3 beds where placed was noted as a one person room officially......

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
