When I was reading the reviews for this hotel I was rather skeptical but now that I've actually been there I can only say it was an excellent hotel. The service was very good, the room was nice and spacial. The bathroom was too small but that's the case with most hotels in Europe. There a was safe box and...

The hotel is very clean and confortable and in a great location. Easy to find either if you are coming from train station or from the airport. In the middle of an alive and charming street during the day which become very quiet at night. Not noise at all to disturb us during sleep. The staff is very kind and...

We had a nice, clean room on the second floor (so climbing was not a problem as other reviewers mentioned; guess it depends on room location and your physical shape). Breakfast included freshly baked (baked in hotel kitchen) pastries, yogurts, juices, cappuccinos etc. Most importantly the staff was very friendly and helpful (thank you Luka!). We had to checkout early...

Cons: Lots of stairs to climb; carrying heavy &/or multiple luggage is a struggle. Shower is extremely small; even for one person. Breakfast had limited seating; no personal space. We booked this hotel online for 3 nights. It was chosen for proximity to the railway station. On leaving the station it was only a 10 minute easy walk to the hotel, with only one bridge to cross with our suitcases..That is a big plus ! Room was expensive, but it was high tourist season . Online photos made the...

Despite the fairly high price paid for the hotel per night the room was disappointing due to its small size. Showering was even problematic. The shower cubicle was so small that I kept hitting the shower handle that switches it off and this is coming from a 5ft size 8-10 person. Not only this the noise pollution was frustrating too. We...

Close to the train station. The bed was not that comfortable but it was OK. We enjoyed the breakfast, was complete and a good start for the day in Venice. It was what we expected for the price. New bathroom clean and comfortable. Wifi didn't work that well....

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
