Gorgeous hotel in a magnificent location. Walk to fabulous restaurants. Clean, friendly staff who were happy to help organise excursions, the best breakfast we had on our trip through Italy. Would definitely stay here again.

Please be aware that if you book an economy room at the hotel savoia&jolanda you will not be in the main hotel. They will instead take you through a side door and shop you down an alley way to their sister hotel. This hotel was formally the hotel villa Igea. We had stayed here before and was very impressed the...

The Villa Igea is now known as the full sister hotel name of Savoia and Yolanda - (located around the corner!) which made it a bit confusing to find initially. However, once we were in the hotel we were very impressed. Our room was upgraded to a very large 2 bedroom suite style room. Very luxurious, with stunning classic Venetian...

There is old furniture in rooms which gives it a special feeling. Just open the window, lay down and listen to the sounds outside. The one thing that was a little confusing since it's at the Savoi and Yolanda Hotel which is behind it towards the water.

Access by water taxi right in front of hotel was a plus. Checkin was quick and efficient. Staff were friendly and helpful. My wife and I stayed there two nights prior to our cruise and then one night after our cruise. The first room we stayed was spot on. What we expected. The second room had a much smaller bathroom...

Wonderful hotel, great position & friendly staff. Breakfast is held at the Savoi & Yolanda Hotel (of which Villa Igea is an annex behind). They have improved the outside balconies, which are now under cover and have nice chairs & tables, if you wish to buy a bottle of wine and nibbles from the bar/supermarket and bring it back its...

We got room with a stunning view to the beautiful church just across the small plaza. Room is pretty small but its decor has a character. Excellent location. Just 4-5 minutes pleasant stroll to San Marcus square. The hotels in Venice is pretty expensive. So, if you are looking simple but comfortable stay then this 3 star hotel is for...

This small hotel is an annex to the Savoia and Jolanda. Not sure why we got such a good deal, but room 508 was a two bedroom suite with private bathroom and a 'lobby' of it's own. All very nicely decorated in the traditional Venice manner. After a couple of weeks sharing a room with our ten year-old it was...

We were disappointed, having booked the Savoia & Jolanda (4 star) via Amoma.com, to be given a room in its annexe, the Villa Igea (3 star). We know the Igea well, having stayed there several times before, but this time we were given a poky little room with a very inadequate shower room. There was no surround to the washbasin,...

We stayed at Villa Igea for 3 days, in 2 rooms. One of the rooms was ok but the other was tiny even by European standards. Our bathroom was so tiny that there was literally not even enough room for the bath mat, and the shower so small that it was not possible to pick up a dropped item such...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
