Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.

Great location close to train station, but also away from the busy areas. We had a two bedroom two bathroom that was perfect for our family of 5 (16,17 and 23 year old kids). Breakfast was excellent...warm big croissants and great coffee!!!

We stayed at ground floor apartment, big enough for four of us. It was a bit chilly at night although they said they have underfloor heatings. We love the breakfast with nice hot croissants and great Italian coffee.

It is only 15 minutes by walking, you must cross the “Kanal grande” thats the big river, you can cross that river by walking through the “Rialto bridge” they are signs everywhere to Rialto bridge and San Marco square so its very easy. Good luck!

Are there irons in the room
Dear Mollybyrn, unfoujtunately the rules in Venice, and Italy all, are very severe and it is not possible to use the iron in the rooms. In case, close to us there is a laundry service!. thanks for your question, Alessandro Fabris - Owner
