What a little gem the Locanda Salieri is perfect location canal side lovely restaurant next door ( owned by hotel) plain clean simple rooms. I would happily recommend it to anyone for both business or pleasure. Breakfast is served in the restaurant next door cereal, fresh bread, ham and cheeses, preserves, tea and coffee

Great location in a less touristy part of the city (away from most of the crowds), close to a lovely square with a range resturants and bars. Lovely hotel staff who helped recommend restaurants (other than their own). Quiet street/canal.

We picked the hotel based upon its physical proximity to Piazzale Roma, which is the closest point for busses and taxis to Venice proper. The hotel is only a ten minute walk there, but be prepared to lug your bags up and over three or four bridges. The hotel is very walk able to from the San Basilio cruse terminal,...

You get what you pay for. This is 1 star. Our room was pungent with cigarette smoke It didn't feel clean at all. The hotel restaurant is decent and the location is excellent. Easy to get to from the train.

I can't really say much about the hotel because there was a problem with my room and I was sent to another hotel down the street. I had to come here for breakfast, though, and it was good. Continental breakfast with a small selection of stuff to put on your bread, yogurt, cereals and as much coffee, tea and juice...

Our room was on the second floor. No elevators so be prepared to carry your luggage up two flights of stairs. We arrived early in the morning and our room would not be ready until 1 PM. We were allowed to deposit our luggage, use a restroom and use the internet. We did run into a problem upon returning to...

Had never been to Venice before and when looking for a hotel found there were loads there. Hard to pick the 'right one'. Looked at the reviews on the Hotel Locanda Salieri and found it mostly positive. I wasn't disappointed when I got there. Firstly the gentleman who greeted us was very nice and extremely helpful. Very good English too....

The hotel is located at a very convenient location, literally 3 minutes walk from Piazza le Roma station where you can get all kinds of transport but also 15 minutes away from Rialto in case you want to walk. Staff was quite helpful in anything we asked them. Room was clean and the bed was nice.

I travelled last week for business. In the high season it was almost impossible to find a decent lodging with reasonable price. Thanks to Tripadvisor reviews, I opted for Locanda Salieri and it was a perfect pick. Located in the vicinity of Piazzale Roma - transport hub of Venice, literary stone a way from the bus terminals and vaporetto stations,...

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights after finishing a cruise in Venice. The journey from the cruise terminal was tricky only because we had too much luggage... Hotel was just off the main transport hub for Venice, Pizzale Roma where you can get everywhere from and get back too easily... It was actually in a quiet little backwater which...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
