Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Efficient and friendly service in this little place, run by a husband and wife team. Great location, a few minutes’ walk from the Ospedale stop (on the 5.2 waterbus from Piazzale Roma), and a 10-15 minute walk to San Marco. Some good restaurants nearby too. Good communication

It was our first B&B experience and we loved it. It's not anything fancy but they have everything you need for a holiday. The room is very cozy and spacious. Breakfast is simple but nice and enough to keep you going. And the location is perfect too.

You won't want to stay here if you're after 5* luxury but the hotel does have everything you might need. Tea/coffee facilities, Wi-Fi, a fridge, decent bathroom, simple breakfast (it's not a buffet, but comes out pre-prepared on a tray), comfy bed, mosquito plugs (essential for

At first I was a little apprehensive about staying at this hotel. However, after staying here for 2 nights, I can’t speak highly enough of this little bed and breakfast hotel. For a 2 star hotel, I think this little gem is way above its category with its cleanliness, well kept

Is there parking at this hotel? If so, what is the cost?
Hi you don't say if you are flying into Venice if so just get water taxi straight to Alloggi Barbaria it takes approx 10/15 mins and then a 5 min walk to hotel If arriving by car I would park up at airport anyway they will surely have a long stay area and then get water taxi as hotel is on airport side of the island so will be much easier to get to hotel, unless you want to walk though all the street with luggage in tow, you have chosen a lovely hotel.

Dear future Guest, Thank you for contacting us. We do have shutters outside the windows to block the light in every room. Anyhow keep in mind that from 8am to 10am we serve breakfast for the guests and that after 11am we start to do the cleanings so we do not assure that there's going to be silence in order to sleep. If you would like a quieter room please contact us via email with your reservation number and we will be pleased to provide you one. We look forward to welcoming you to our property. Kind regards, Sara

Dear Mr. Doug Dawson Many thanks for your request of information. As Venice is like a maze, it is complicated to get to Alloggi Barbaria from St. Mark's Square with luggage and five bridges to cross. You can easily get lost. So I highly recommend you to take a vaporetto from the train station/airport and get off at the stop "Ospedale". Our property is located at just a 3-minute walk from the stop and there are no bridges to cross. If you still wish to get on foot to Alloggi Barbaria from St. Mark's Square you need to follow the directions for the hospital with an "H" that are along the streets. Our property is located behind the hospital, indeed, in Calle delle Cappuccine. Or ask for directions for Campo Santa Maria Formosa, Campo San Giovanni e Paolo, Barbaria delle Tole, all these sites are a few minutes to our facility. For further information you can easily check the "how to arrive" page on our official website. We look forward to welcoming you here at our property! Kind regards, Fausto (Manager)
