Neighbourhood
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

We got dropped off at Orto, as water level outside hotel was a bit low. 5 minute walk, so very easy to get to. We were warmly welcomed and given some good advice and recommendations. Through out the stay, every member of staff we came in contact with was sweet, charming and

Lovely weekend away from start to finish. This hotel is situated in a quiet area but only five minutes away from the hustle and bustle that is Venice. On arrival the reception staff were exceptionally polite and welcoming, giving us lots of helpful information as it was our

Really nice hotel in a great area. In the less ‘tourist’ area but very well connected to the rest of the city. The vaperretto (water bus) is less than 10 mins walk and takes you into the heart of Venice. In the local area, there are plenty of restaurants and bars around the

We are just back from 5 nights at the Mori d'Oriente and had a wonderful stay. The room was clean, spacious and extremely comfortable. The location is tucked away and therefore quiet, but not far from the busy shopping area at Strada Nova. It is a short walk to the vaporetto at

Sorted out problem with our booking on arrival. Sorted out with issue of the room being a little too warm for us immediately. Nothing was too much trouble. The cleaning staff were excellent. Breakfast staff and food very good.

Ferry taxi to the first port and it is a few minutes walk from there... The ferry port, where you buy your ticket will tell you, which stop (i Think it's the first) it is very close from there by foot and a beautiful walk! The hotel is FAB!

Coaches are available from directly outside Treviso Airport to Venice for 22euro return. You can then catch a vaporetta which stops very near the hotel for 7 euro. It's a very easy journey but it's wise to work out which vaporetta you want prior to your journey as it can be a little confusing.

Hi, just get the public water taxi around €25 return to the airport and get off at Madonna Dell Orto (2nd stop). It’s a very easy walk to the hotel from there. We bought the tickets in the airport.
