The room was comfortable (decoration was a bit tacky but not a problem) and quiet, and the breakfast was very good. Also, location was quite good, a close walk to Piazza San Marco and strategically placed between two vaporetto stations, which was quite handY. Also, close to the Accademia for those who are interested in visiting. The reception was separate...

the first and the most important thing about the hotel was its great location that is near a water bus station (Zattere) which makes it accessible very very easily. You will check in and have breakfast at the hotel Belle Arti located just across the street with its small yet beautiful garden. The only negative point is the staff not...

Arrived by Water bus to Zattere, checked in at the hotel opposite called Belle Arti, walked across the street, on entering the hotel it looks abandoned as Belle Arti runs it so no staff actually manning the front desk within Domus Cavanis. We stayed on the 3rd floor, lovely room with good ensuite, hairdryer, tv, air con, the wifi from...

This hotel is actually under Hotel Bella Arti. There is 24hrs reception so we could check in after midnight. There is no mini bar or fridge in the room. Wifi was not stable, my laptop could catch signal but my phone had no internet connection at all. Aircon was a bit weak so we had to open all the windows...

It is hard to give a review about this hotel because Venice is quite different. We stayed at their hotel right across from the hotel where reception is. The room was very traditional but also dated which took some getting use to. The room had thick fabric wall coverings in deep red colours - that I actually wanted to leave...

Its a very old and dingy hotel. There is no reception, no room service and absolutely no one to help you in the hotel. This is because it is maintained by Hotel Belle Arti, a three-star hotel just opposite to it. Surprisingly, we received no communication stating that we need to check-in and collect our keys from Hotel Belle Arti...

Hotel is in a very good location, a minutes walk from the boarding dock (ferry), close to multiple food places and stalls for ice cream/fruit etc and you are able to walk around to many attractions around venice from here. When I checked in we were given the wrong room initially, we booked with Domus Cavanis, however I was given...

We booked for Domus Cavanis, which is part off Belle Arti hotel, but they give as room in the main building (Belle Arti). The room was nice, clean and comfortable, bathroom also clean and good. The ladies that help with breakfast are very sweet, breakfast basic self service, plenty of food. Good location.

The location is the best point of this hotel, that is the dependance of the Hotel Belle Arti, a three-star hotel just in the opposite side of the street. So you have to check-in and check-out to the Belle Arti, where you can have a continental breakfast in the beautiful Garden. Walking distance both to S. Marco and to Rialto....

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
