Quiet hotel located between the Rialto bridge and St Marks, both within 15 minutes wal so location is perfect. Breakfast was good and staff very personable. I suppose the rooms are a bit small, but very stylish and completely adequate.

The reviews about the hotel being hard to find are true! It is literally tucked in and around a corner and there is nothing else around except the hotel and a bunch of old run-down looking buildings. Aside from this it is very central. A few minutes walk from St. Marks Square and a lot of shopping. Also, very close...

I was quite impressed with the rooms in this hotel, it was nicely decorated Venetian style, large for European standards and clean. Staff were also courteous, breakfast was ok. Location was also good, easy to walk around to the main sightseeing spots. Probably the only downside to our stay was I wanted to borrow a kettle (in Australia/UK all hotel...

This hotel was terrific, clean, secure, cool, sumptuously decorated, quirky but satisfying breakfast, centrally located and every single member of staff was lovely. We followed Ciepierball's directions from 9 May 2012, (repeated below), and found it in less than five minutes - very important in sweltering heat with heavy suitcases. We'll definitely want to return here. Everyone arrives in Venice...

We were a group of three couples who were all very impressed and pleased with Al Codega. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, very nice rooms, and a superb location (a little bit hard to find, but definately worth the effort). The tapas style breakfast was also magnificent. We will come back for sure!

If I return to Venice I will definitely stay here again. Although in a quiet courtyard away from the hustle and bustle it is 2 miniutes from Rialto Bridge and 5 minutes from St Marks Square. The bedroom was spacious and well appointed, the staff were as friendly and helpful as they could possibly be and the breakfast was fresh,...

Excellent location giving both immediate access to St. Marks Square and a hideaway from the crowds. The staff was knowledgable and helpful, guiding us to great food and music. Complimentry breakfast was a great way to start the day. Very cute, very small bar to get you ready for the evening.

We would recommend Al Codega when visiting Venice. This hotel will definitely be the one we choose why returning to Venice. The location is great - close to the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square. Once you learn to navigate the alleys of Venice, the courtyard of the Al Codega is easily found. It is, however, very difficult to find...

This is a small family run hotel set in a courtyard only a few minutes away from st marks square or the rialto. Quite difficult to find, but well worth the search. Beautiful rooms, very clean, breakfast varied and tasty. Central for anywhere you want to visit in the city. Would certainly recommend it .

My husband and I stayed at Al Codega for two nights in April of this year. It was such a nice stay. True, as others have mentioned, the hotel is a bit of a challenge to find, but that's part of it's charm: it is within a courtyard tucked neatly into the heart of the Rialto area, so close to...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
