The hotel is in a good location within walking distance to the center. Our room was very spacious and decorated in the old style like always in Venice. Breakfast is also very tasty with lots of choices.

Stayed there between 1 February 2017 - 4 February 2017. The customer service at the Hotel is Exceptional. Special thanks to Mr Radu, who was extremely helpful. It was our first time in Venice and this Hotel made it a special experience for us. They were happy to arrange various services from taxis and activities to surprise birthday parties :)...

We recently stayed at Hotel Ca Alvise for 2 nights. The hotel is small and quaint, the room was a good size with a large bathroom which had a Jacuzzi, which was lovely. It took us nearly 45 mins to find the hotel so be prepared! You will definitely need Google maps on your phone but even these it's not...

The hotel had a nice central location. If you're going to Venice, you will be doing a lot of walking, which means that the hotel is all part of the experience. The hotel is quite a walk from the pier, and you could get lost very quickly. Get a map before hand and know where to turn and at which...

We had booked a city break with British Airways and were bumped from our original choice (the Hotel Marconi on the Grand Canal) so were a bit huffy when we arrived, after a 20 minute brisk trot through the streets with all our luggage. However, the staff couldn't have been nicer or the room cosier. It's on the corner of...

When we showed up at this hotel, which we pre-paid for, MONTHS AGO, they told us there was NO ROOM AVAILABLE for us!!! They were nonchalant about this and tried to get us to go to another hotel!! What horrible behavior!! Worse yet - looking back through reviews we now find that they do on this on a REGULAR BASIS,...

When my husband and I were planning our trip to Venice, we had many hotels to choose from. We examined several contenders and chose Albergo Ca'Alvise based on star rating, reviews (including Trip Advisor), breakfast & other amenities, location, and photos, among other criteria. We were very excited about our stay. However, when we arrived in Venice (around 11pm- with...

This is a small hotel. location is very good - few steps from all the attractions, but very easy to get lost. I have been in Venice several times and I always get lost - I do not mind, I like to discover. Everything was charming, service was good. People with disabilities should be aware that there is no elevator....

For a centrally located hotel within easy reach of the main sights this was very reasonably priced. The bedroom and bathroom were both a good size. It is true that there is no lift but even the second floor, where we stayed, wasn't a problem with hand luggage and on arrival a porter took the cases up to the room....

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
