We needed somewhere to totally switch off and relax after a stressful summer and this place was just perfect. The beach access is great - Sardinia is a beautiful island but sandy beaches are hard to find. Another plus is proximity to the airport, 30 minutes maximum away.

I, my wife and son spent a week here at the beginning of September. For those considering a stay here is like to give you a balanced review. I cannot understand how people are raving about this hotel, it's ok, but not great. Let me give you the pros and cons: The good bits:- The staff (all the staff) The location - right on the beach The common areas are nice The not so good bits:- Rooms-all small and poky The breakfast same every day, not the best quality, you queue up for coffee. Pool area bleak, no pool service, in fact nothing there at all, nowhere to get a drink of any description, most odd. A/C in rooms poor Beach bar soulless, looks like Ikea! Food expensive on site We had a nice time but it's lacking in is many ways. To get to a 4 Star rating they need to make so many improvements.

Excellent choice to explore West Coast to Sardinia as well as just relax at the hotel. Big plus of this hotel is beautiful beach right on the property, steps away from your room (make sure to get ocean view). Food was also great and on Wednesdays they do suckling pig roast/buffet - about 5 pigs around the wooden fire, right on the property. Other days food is good too. Hotel is located about 10 min from a picturesque Alghero village and about an hour from famous La Pelosa beach. Hotel can arrange a catamaran tour to visit close to the beach too which is way better than going into the zoo of cars and people of La Pelosa. The only suggestion about this hotel is to have a coffee machine in the room. Othe than that it’s one of the best in Sardinia.

Fantastic location and hotel. Staff are very helpful and food is amazing. Rooms are clean and simple, however it’s the private beach that you can walk to in 30 seconds from your room that is the selling point. The water is crystal clear and the facilities are fantastic. This was our third stay and we are already planning on going back next year.

It’s hard to find fault with anything in Sardinia because the place is beyond gorgeous. This hotel was lovely. Situated in quiet area with a truly private beach (very clean, water amazing, good for snorkeling). We had a room on the ground floor with sea view that was spacious. Another plus is their very strong internet - worked everywhere no problem. The food was delicious at all meals - just can’t say enough about the quality of the food and drink. Pool area was lovely too - large pool, lots of chairs and umbrellas. Issues were: people with mobility problems (me) shouldn’t get rooms on ground floor because it requires (oddly) many sets of stairs to reach the “ground” and these were hard to do. Also our room had a “large” bed (about Q size American, possibly a bit larger) and a small bed like a “single”- smaller than twin American. The bigger bed mattress needed to be replaced as it had a definite part that was higher on one side which was very uncomfortable so sleeping was a little tough.

This hotel is in the most spectacular location. Breathtaking views and every position of table and restaurant/ bar is full sea view. It’s on a private beautiful beach with use of hotel loungers and plenty of them. Pool is with an amazing sea view & breeze. Jets in pool also. We went a superior sea view room on ground level. Amazing literally on beach. Do consider upgrading. Rooms are spotless with excellent service from cleaning ladies. Breakfast a real treat with pastries to die for. No hot buffet at breakfast but special order service for omelettes from 8.30, in my opinion too late. Dinner tasty and variety of options with great service. Poolside bar provides great snacks for lunch , excellent staff here and so welcoming 👏. Happy hour a treat here from 4-5pm. Location about 15 minutes drive from Alghero & 10 minutes from airport. Bus service & beach bus at top of lane. We did wait for 1 in morning but neither came and got taxi in which works or at 60 euros return. All in all a beautiful hotel, don’t hesitate to book in an amazing tranquil setting. Also thanks to reception of availing late check out of room at a charge great comfort to have. Hopefully will come back again.

If you come please do yourself the favor and at least upgrade to a sea view, the alternative is looking at the parking lot (with trees) I will say the best part has been some of the staff here (the bar and restaurant teams). Currently on our last night here in May 2023 and below you can find some of the shortcomings of Hotel dei Pini: * WiFi is awful - poor signal and kicks you off regularly * Not one clothes iron to be found here - not even calling from the front desk which is crazy considering people are living out of suitcases * No tea kettle or coffee in room * Dinner buffet is €35 for what should be €20 max (not great quality) * Can’t get a glass of wine at dinner (only a bottle) * Beds have plastic covers on them, like the kind you put on children’s beds for peeing * Lifeguards not paying attention to guests - I had to go inside to ask the receptionist for some towels * No fresh towels given in the room since our first day (I had to grab some from the cleaning cart) * There was a weeks long workshop wrapping up this past night and there was partying and loud music until 3a.m. All-in-all it would be worth it to stay here for 20-25% less cost and I would not return here. This is more of a 3 star hotel and needs some standard changes to bring its rating up.

Response from Management Hotel dei Pini , Altro at Hotel dei Pini
Responded 26 May 2023
Dear Mr Pelvis_freshly ,  First of all we want to thank you for the time taken on reviewing our Hotel and we do appreciate the compliments to our staff who work carefully and professionally every day and represent a great value to our hotel.  Secondly we are very pleased to reply to the shortcomings you listed: We agree with you in admitting that the view you enjoyed from our sea view rooms is absolutely gorgeous but our rooms with garden view are also beautiful  and they face the marvellous pinewood in which the hotel lies. It is a relaxing and peaceful place where our guests can also park their cars freely and without extra charges. We have a Wifi service which works properly but like any technical device may have problems that are always solved promptly anytime they are communicated to the Reception desk. Unfortunately during the period you stayed with us we experienced some problems with the Wi-Fi signal due to some interferences caused by drills of the military aviation that took place in the area of Alghero for a couple of days.  As far as the clothes irons are concerned, they cannot be rented or used in the rooms, due to safety reasons. We have a laundry service on site for washing and ironing. Laundry bags and the details of the service are available in each room.  Tea Kettles and Coffee machines are not part of the room facilities as clearly mentioned in the description of the rooms in our personal website or in our partners' web site. Coffee machines are available just in the suites while tea kettles are available on request. If you would have asked the Reception staff we would have been pleased to bring one to your room.We are very sorry about what you wrote on the Buffet and we are pretty surprised to notice you had dinner each night and you never complained neither with the Maitre nor with the Reception staff about any issues related to your dinner. The Dinner Buffet, which is not usual  in our hotel but planned according to events or organizational demands, is always very rich in variety, quantity and choice of food but mainly we care about offering our guests fresh and high quality products. Furthermore, our guests can choose between the buffet service helping themselves and enjoying it as much as they like of it or having the service à la Carte. We confirm that at the restaurant it is only possible to order wine in bottles with the option of taking a regular bottle (75 cl) or the small one (37.5 cl)  which is equal to two glasses of wine. Of course if not fully consumed it can be taken to the room.  The plastic cover you mention is a mattress cover which is double faced and has a waterproof side against the mattress and a cotton side on its surface and in contact with the bed linen. It is a sanitary device that we use to protect the mattresses and keep them cleaned and sanitized. If you had informed the Reception desk that you found it uncomfortable we would have removed it immediately.  Our beach is guarded between 9 am and 6 pm but guests can also refer to the Reception desk for beach towels. Our hotel lies in the Nature Reserve of Porto Conte and Capocaccia and we are focused on sustainability and environmental awareness. On arrival each guest finds in his room a special informative form with some easy to follow rules that we kindly ask you to respect to reduce the environmental impacts of the hotel. For this reason all guests are requested to put away the bath towels and all the other towels they wish to have replaced and leave them on the shower tray. At the same time we kindly ask guests to fill a special form indicating the frequency they wish the bed sheets to be changed. If you had reported the Reception desk about this fact we would have helped you and clarified the situation. As far as the Workshop you had mentioned, the participants had a party the night before your departure and the music stopped at midnight. Our night porter paid attention to the situation in order to avoid any annoyance to our guests and no complaints by the residents were registered on the night of that party. We really hope we have clarified your doubts and we hope to welcome you back. Best regards

Great 4-star hotel on a beautiful beach. The welcome and overall service we received was tremendous. Everyone was friendly and the staff accommodated our late-evening flight by giving us a room to shower in after allowing us to spend the day by the pool and beach. The restaurants were good for a quick bite during the day but I’d venture elsewhere for dinner. The breakfast was fresh and had many options but I’m not certain how allergy friendly it’d be. It is about a 15 minute drive to downtown Alghero but parking there was pretty tough so give yourself plenty of time.

Second time I stay there for a week and already can’t wait to go back! Everything about the hotel is just perfect, the amazing location just on the beach, the delicious food especially buffet breakfast it’s incredible, rooms could not get any cleaner but what makes it extra special it’s the staff. 5 star for reception does not quite cut it they go well beyond! No matter how many questions I had to ask or anything to be solved they were friendly professional and very caring! It hurts me to read some reviews on this site saying reception were not polite when you see all of them putting so much care in their job! Book this hotel and you won’t regret it! I will be back for my third time ; )
