Great friendly hotel in City Centre location. I stayed 4 nights at this hotel. Hotel is on hill so I recommend you take a taxi from the airport if you planning to stay at hotel. The room was very good. I did have problem with my lights on the first night. I reported this and this was immediately. There are...

First the good things: It's a pretty hotel and we had an attractive room. It's well-located in the center of town. The staff were very kind. However we checked into a suffocatingly-hot room and after an hour of back-and-forth with the staff, we learned that the air conditioning had been turned off for the winter and the only way to...

Great hotel staff very helpful. Had a suite and the rooms were very big. Loved the painted murals on the ceilings. Had an evening meal there and it was very nice. The breakfast was also very nice. Close to town and up a hill we got a taxi from the train station and it cost Euro15.

Loved it here-the rooms were clean-the staff very helpful and friendly-lovely breakfast too-try the bombilini alla crema. Coffee could be a little hotter though! The situation is perfect for the rest of the city-so many restaurants nearby. The sun terrace is amazing and has a fab view of catania and it's rooftops together with Mount Etna. The breakfast room is...

I stayed at the Hotel Royal from Friday to Sunday and was very impressed! The location is absolutely perfect, it's in the center of everything! All of the monuments are easily walkable - 5 to 10 minutes. Our room was nice, comfy bed, good pillows and nice shower. The breakfast was wonderful! Not only were the food choices plentiful, but...

Good location but a rather tired hotel. Our room was mediocre at best with air con that was very noisy but had little effect, broken fittings and a safe that was reported locked but not dealt with. Very nice staff but a very mediocre breakfast buffet.

We recently enjoyed four night at Hotel Royal, in a room facing the courtyard. We requested two single beds when booking and there was no problem with our wish. The only failt with the room was the bathroom where the shower was small and it was easy to touch the water handle with the back when moving. Another drawback was...

Booked this hotel on Booking.com. Had indicated in the booking process that would arrive early approx. 10h00. Reception not interested in what was in the booking detail and hid behind policy. Unfriendly, officious demeanour was first impression and this was evident through the week long stay. the hotel is in an ideal location. Most tourist sites within walking distance and...

The Hotel Royal is located in the building of a former 1700 palace. It has less than 20 rooms, each individually appointed with period furniture. Actually, all rooms on a given floor have a shared theme, for instance names of Bellini operas on one floor. There are three room sizes. It took me a while to figure out that lamps...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Royal Hotel is a four star hotel in the centre of Catania with 19 rooms. The rooms are positioned on three different levels. Each room is named after either an important Sicilian person or period of Sicilian history. The first floor is dedicated to Vincenzo Bellini. A world-renowned composer, born in Catania, and author of noted works like La Norma. The same Norma lends her name to our most beautiful suite. This suite boasts beautiful vaulted ceilings where, following a meticulous and complex restorative project, we were able to maintain the original frescoes, painted in the 18th century. The frescoes are not the only unique features of this suite, which could more accurately be called a royal apartment. It is almost 50m2 and has a fabulous bathroom, like something directly from the fabled Arabian Nights. The second floor is home to the rooms dedicated to Magna Grecia (Latin for "Greater Greece"): a very important period in the history of the city of Catania. The third floor is dedicated to Giovanni Verga. This author brought the name of Catania and of Sicily into the lives of many around the world with his historical novels, names that are kept alive today in names of the rooms of our hotel. All rooms are equipped with LCD monitor, WiFi, and a control panel for the electronic adjustment of lights, but most importantly they are very spacious. The Superior rooms boast either a splendid four-poster bed or a private terrace. One of the Superior rooms has a private access to the rooftop terrace with the possibility to book the exclusive use of the Solarium and the Jacuzzi. The Suites are particularly ample with separate, clearly defined living and sleeping quarters. The Suites also offer a relaxing shower with water massage. ... more   less
