Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hotel opened a few months ago. It is a completely renovated palazzo in the quirky neighborhood of St. Agostino, which reminds me of a bit of Marakesh. Although the renovation is tastefully contemporary/minimalist, the owner retained certain old features, like the ceiling in our room. Some of the work still needs to be completed, such as the pool in the courtyard (not required in January, but would be a big plus in the hotter months). Our room was quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. There is an extensive breakfast buffet featuring savory and sweet. An area for improvement would be to include a selection of fresh seasonal fruit. The location of the hotel is very central, and most sites in Palermo are within walking distance.

This wonderfully boutique hotel was such a lovely find - exactly what we were searching for from an 'Italian rustic' yet contemporary stay. The rooms were spacious with fluffy pillows and the bathrooms have a minimalistic sleek design to them. Casa Nostra is centrally located with excellent shopping nearby in walking distance. The prawn pasta served in the terraced restaurant was wholesomely Sicilian and breakfast included a lovely selection of cold cuts, cheeses, pastries and fruits. Would stay here if returning to Palermo again as the service was truly friendly and warm

Don’t believe anything you read on the hotel website; it is all a load of lies. No iPads are provided for guest use, no one (other than Matteo) seems to have any idea about any of the so-called tailor-made itineraries they proudly advertise on their site, the Wellness and Spa, or the private tour to Mount Etna and Taormina. When we asked about tours and experiences, not even the owner made any effort whatsoever to provide us with any information to help us to make the most of what Sicily has to offer, despite telling us they would find out and let us know and we ended up making our own arrangements through another hotel, the Quinto Canto. They seemed to think we were more concerned about the lack of iPad, when we felt was actually that we felt conned into booking this hotel as we had put trust in that what they said on their site was accurate when in fact it was completely untrue and misleading. All we were offered for the inconvenience and poor customer service was a free drink.

Aside from the total work of fiction that is the hotel’s website, we were given conflicting information about many things, such as the limited hours during which the pool could be used, and being advised to book the hotel restaurant for dinner as all the restaurants elsewhere would be shut that evening only to later find out as went out into Palermo that this was also total rubbish as we found many places still open as usual.

There is also a distinct lack of people available to provide any kind of service; we often had to walk around the hotel trying to find someone, anyone, to provide us with information. The cleaners barely touched our room most days; we had dirty coffee cups in our room for days, and no hand soap. We were not offered any kind of assistance with our luggage as we left, despite being on the second floor.

The hotel has some decent aspects, for example, it is very centrally located, the pool area is very peaceful and serene (when open to use), and the food is also nice.

If you want to truly experience Sicily and all it is has to offer however, you will get more information from Google than the hotel staff. This was a very disappointing and upsetting experience as we have had 6 trips already cancelled prior to this due to all the COVID restrictions and this was the first trip we had managed to make abroad since pre-COVID. We were not made to feel like valued paying guests whatsoever.

We would like to state very clearly that Matteo was the only person in the hotel who seemed to care. If, despite reading this review, you still decide to stay there, if you do need any information or help while there, make sure you ask for Matteo as he is the only one in the hotel who genuinely seemed to care and to be able to provide us with any helpful information.

We had to cancel our stay due to COVID restrictions. Booking sites that cover the hotel highlight the ability to cancel without penalty. However, the hotel charged us 50% of our stay despite cancelling a month ahead of our arrival date (this coming September) saying this is standard policy for direct bookings. I have asked the hotel to send me the policy that shows this is the case but they haven’t responded as yet. I think this is a disgrace given the issues all travellers are facing with changing travel rules (in this instance the Italian Government still requires UK citizens to self isolate for 5 days on arrival into Italy). Clearly this hotel’s management puts enforcing short term financial penalties over building a long term service reputation.

Booked two superior double rooms for our friends, and our selves. We were given an apparent overflow room, called 303 but had no number on the door, no key card entry, hangers and dresser were on one floor and the bedroom and bathroom were up a narrow stairway. The bathroom had no door, wifi worked intermittently and room would not cool as there were no vents upstairs, as well as was missing most of the room amenities. After talking to our friends who got a room as shown on the hotel website, we asked to be moved, twice, but were refused. Finally, we had to go to the lobby, loudly demand to be moved before they agreed to do it the next day. No credit was given, nor an apology etc. for the terrible room. The breakfast is poor, minimal food selections are put out on the buffet and then seldom refilled. One employee is supposed to take orders for eggs, if you want, as well as refill the buffet, but they usually hid in the kitchen and had to be tracked down for service. The restaurant is way overpriced, nearly twice the price for any meal at nearby restaurants. Finally, the hotel is several blocks in any direction to a main street, so expect to walk for anything and it is quite dark at night.

This hotel is in a good location for exploring the city and very near the Capo market . Some may like the decor but I felt the all over beige square rooms and gave it a prison like feel - it was all dimly lit with dark stairs. The room had no kettle so we asked for one - but then noticed there were no cups , spoons or any tea or coffee sachets .
There was only one bedside lamp and the room was overly hot .The air con was difficult to change and the reception desk advised us to leave the windows open ..
The pool on the terrace is not currently open and they don’t serve any drinks so you only have your minibar .They seemed unsure about our request for a take out breakfast due to an early start for a tour and just bagged up a few pastries for us . I wouldn’t go back .

The hotel looks great from the outside but it is a bluff.
Our room was tiny for the price (300 euro/night).
The cleaning was not adequate, dust was everywhere, the shower requires a deep descaling and the door handle of the bath was broken.
We asked to change the room or alternatively for a deep cleaning they did not carry out. Then we asked for a discount as we were not happy about the hotel and they offered us two glasses of Prosecco (that I do not drink).
Also the common part were quite neglected and dusty. Dead flowers were everywhere outside the windows.
Breakfast was VERY minimal and on Sunday the chef did not show up so .. no egg either.
Only Plus are the position and the inside courtyard.
Also the personnel is very friendly but there is a total lack of professionalism…and it was clear they did not bother about our frustration at all.
We would never expect such a poor management in a 4 stars boutique hotel.

The hotel is setting a track record for charging people who have to cancel bookings due to COVID rules. Clearly management prefer cash in hand that building a reputation for service. Very disappointed and should be downgraded by its hotel booking sites for a lack of understanding of the situation that all travellers are facing.

I have been to Palermo many times as it’s a great stop to chill for a few days before heading to the south. I always want to stay central in the heart of everything! Casa Nostra is perfectly located just behind Massimo Theatre. The team have recently renovated the hotel and it looks lush! You wouldn’t expect it from the outside but when you’re in the hotel you will find a beautiful open-air courtyard with a pool (plunge) in the middle of it. It became a habit to use the pool around 5pm while enjoying a Spritz! The rooms are lovely and I think I got to experience a newly renovated one (that’s what the staff told me). They are spacious and clean with a view of the courtyard. The food served for breakfast is awesome! From baked cakes to cold cuts to fresh fruits and hot dishes I didn’t need to eat lunch.. the restaurant in the evening is beautifully transformed Into a romantic setting serving amazing dishes! Must try the prawn tartare and the swordfish!! Wow! The staff are lovely and really helpful. It was quite refreshing to speak to one of the owners who is British (my Italian isn’t that good)! She gave me some great recommendations for the Aeolian Islands and other places to visit. At the reception the team were helpful and again spoke very good English. If you want a place which feels homely then stay at Casa Nostra - it’s chic and everything you need in one place. This will be my go-to place when I next return to Palermo. Loved the rooms, design and food!

My wife and I stayed here from the 9th to the 13th of June and had booked one of the more expensive rooms thinking it would make our stay in a city we had never been to a more luxurious experience . Although the room was clean and tidy you could not say it was what we thought it might be . We had the use of a jacuzzi on the balcony which we thought would be a nice touch but after filling it i turned it on to find it had not been cleaned in a while as the stench of rotten eggs and all the crap that came out of the jets to float about in the water proved and that was day 1.

and as for the last couple of days we were woken to the sound of dripping water in the bathroom as the ceiling over the shower split and dripped water which they say was from a faulty duct from the aircon i say the drainage from the shower on the next floor above had split as after I reported they said they had fixed the issue only for it to start again that same evening then first thing the next morning so all in all a never to be forgotten trip to Palermo and not for all the right things
As a side note as a previous review mentioned breakfast just not worth it
and the promised discount on the final bill i was promised by Matteo never did materialise
