This review is long overdue but it has been a hectic year. We selected Stupor Mundi based mainly on the excellent reviews we read on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. The location could not be better -- in fact, if we were to do it again, this would be our location of choice. We did not drive into...

Danilo Stupor knows how to entertain – and inform – his guests. He is supremely knowledgeable about Palermo's history and customs, and communicates these with enthusiasm. Of course, he is also very expert at feeding his guests with traditional Sicilian delights. His breakfasts are real works of art. If you want to learn more about a fascinating city, then Stupor...

You enter a delightful way of enjoying the better parts and experiences of this city full of history and art, just by listening to Danilo's explanations. We lived it for two days and will be back for more! Parking is very close, and an excellent breakfast is served.

I and my husband stayed there for 7 nights and we really enjoyed! Very nicely decorated room and clean all the time and great location! Danilo, Chiara and Carmen all were very nice and kind. Even before we arrived, our host Danilo had helped us book a street food tour, a restaurant for a birthday meal and our airport transfer for a Saturday night arrival. When we actually met him face to face on Sunday morning, he was absolutely brilliant. His pride and passion for his home city and the island of Sicily is unbelievable....

I stayed here in the Maiolica room for 4 nights just before Christmas. The good things: (1) The owner, Danilo is very friendly and eager to help; (2) Chiara and Angela who work there are also wonderful; (3) The location is an easy access by bus from the airport. Take the Piazza Politeama stop (about half an hour from the...

Hello, I am very sorry for this review, but not surprised because today we all live in a society where many people do not speak face to face, but they write only with a PC. Every day I asked if everything was okay and You never said anything that you've written. For me the Guest of MY HOME is very...

The Stupor Mundi gets five stars because it was convenient to the airport shuttle bus stop, the off-season rate was terrific, and the breakfast was fabulous. From the extra sweet almond milk, ripe kiwi and persimmons, and my very first (and best) cassata, all of it was fresh and delicious. I was in the LeChic room, which is nice size...

Hello and thanks for the written review and we are happy that You were right. I just want to clarify that Stupor Mundi is not a hotel but a B & B or better our home and we (as written in the booking sites and emails that we sent) there is a 24 hour reception, but we still accessible for...

We stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed both the B&B and Palermo. We had taken the overnight ferry and arrived very early in the morning - about an hour earlier than we had anticipated. We walked from the port to the B&B (about 10 minutes). In spite of the early hour, we were welcomed with open arms and...

Great rooms in the absolute centre of Palermo. Great staff with superb attention to detail. The Wi-Fi worked well. The breakfasts could have been a bit more relaxed, so instead of Danilo, the owner, presenting you with different items you could choose from a ready selection. But then again it was a pretty amusing spectacle in the mornings. Recommended!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Bed and Breakfast Stupor Mundi is the exact answer to the request for a comfortable accommodation to stay in the "lounge of Palermo", in one of the most important avenues of the city, between the two main monuments: Teatro Politeama and Teatro Massimo. An excellent solution, in one of the most prestigious neighborhoods of Palermo: in the shopping area, a short walk from the bus stop linking with all destinations - including the airports of Palermo and Trapani, just meters from the Harbor and 15 min. from Central Station. The reception, the helpful advices about places to visit, the attention to hygiene and a typical breakfast are the assurances necessary during a stay away from home, either for leisure or for business: and that's exactly what you'll find inside our structure. The "philosophy" of the B&B is based on the awareness that the city of Palermo is a "Pearl of the Mediterranean" and that Sicily is an island rich in history and mythology: "We like the idea that every single person passing through our city will return, one day, glad to do it." The apartment also has been recently renovated with furniture crafts, decorated with special care and attention to details. ... more   less
