Hotel is located in an exquisite ancient building on the waterfront of Ortigia, the historic centre of Syracuse. Giving onto the ancient "Mastra Rua," where the Siracusan nobility resided from the 14th century, the hotel is a starting point for cultural itineraries. Its recent restoration maintains the original structure made of three buildings, contributing to its dynamic layout. Rooms are furnished differently with antique furniture, four-poster beds and refined interior decoration with distinctive Sicilian touches and Mediterranean features such as colorful bathrooms tiles.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely fabulous hotel! It’s a beautiful old palazzo that has been restored really well. Full of character but with all the amenities you could need. The location, right on the coast is amazing! The staff were fantastic - really friendly and keen to help with everything. Breakfast was delicious. Will definitely be returning!

We loved this hotel so much. We stayed in one of the rooms with sun chairs and a jacuzzi on the deck, which we used in winter— a fantastic respite after a day of driving. The rooms are gorgeous and the bed was the coziest of all the hotels we tried in Sicily. The breakfast is unmissable, and includes the option to pipe your own cannoli and delicious fresh orange juice. Plus you can have tea and pastries at any time. Sabrina at the front desk gave us spot on suggestions every time we asked her. She was incredibly warm, helpful and attentive and really made our trip special.

Outstanding Hospitality! Everthing was perfect - from Check in over the Room to the helpful Service! For sure I will return to the Algila, when I will be in Siracusa again. During my stay there were restauration works, but nothing was disturbing the guests- perfect organisation at all!!

This is a pristine hotel with delightful and professional staff. The interiors are gorgeous, all in very good taste. What makes it perfect is how well you are taken care of the moment you are in their hands. All of the stress of travel melts away and you can just enjoy as well as relax. Even our pup was treated like royalty!

This splendid hotel has it all: terrific location overlooking the sea, beautiful rooms, wonderful service, and delicious breakfast, all in three beautifully restored historic buildings. We stayed five nights over NYE and had such a festive time. Cheers!

This is an extraordinary property, located in the heart of Ortigia, Siracusa. We walked to all the best cultural sites and restaurants. The hotel property has great historical charm - a very old building made new without sacrificing architectural detail, with all the luxuries one would expect in a 5 star property. And all at reasonable prices - granted, we were there off-season, but still very reasonably priced. The staff were all charming, attentive, and eager to please.

This is a very elegant hotel and a perfect place to stay in Ortigia. And what a fantastic staff, so gracious, warm and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them. We stayed there over Christmas which was delightful, and just in case anyone will be staying there over Christmas at another time, it's useful to know that all the cafes and restaurants in Ortigia open on Christmas Day so you can combine your stay at the Algila with a wonderful Christmas lunch in Ortigia! The hotel overlooks the water and it's magical when the sun is shining.

We stayed here as a family of six (including two grandparents and two kids under three), and the staff bent over backwards to make our stay perfect. The rooms were spacious and charming, and the city was beautiful.

Five of us, all friends from the hospitality industry in London, spent 2 nights in Algila way back in May 2023. The memory of this charming hotel has stayed with me ever since. The location is perfect, our rooms were charming and the staff were all outstanding, friendly, familiar but still professional. Stefano at the reception helped us book a boat trip which I highly recommend if the weather permits. Very good breakfasts in the morning. I do not hesitate in recommending this charming hotel.
