ENGLISH I have been working in the tourism industry for years, I have slept almost everywhere and the only place I feel like returning to (at the end of every vacation or job trip) is home. This doesn’t happen at Borgo Pantano. You arrive here and you don't want/feel to leave. Here is home. Here it is silence, nature, attention to details, care. Here it is the smile of those at the reception and of those who work in the breakfast room (a truly stellar experience, which does not fear any comparison with the best 5-star boutique hotels’ one - I must admit: is FAR better!), it is the welcome of the restaurant and the stunning swimming pool area. You leave this place thinking about how to make your own home more like Borgo Pantano and, if you think about it, it doesn't happen often while wandering around hotel facilities. Beautiful places, for goodness sake, but they all, at a certain point, make you miss your home for some reason. Giusy has a vision that she pursues and that can be easily felt here: the entire project and the place are filled with respect and care, with beauty and peace. A truly magical place, suspended between worlds. Staying here is like living in a poem.

We have stayed in five star hotels around the world, both boutique and known chains like Rocco Forte hotels. Some we would return to and some we would not. Hotel Borgo Pantano is top of the list of places we want to come back to. What an oasis of relaxation! The hotel is only 15 minutes from the magical jewel box town of Ortigia but yet it feels like an oasis of calm, just 7 kilometres away. We made use of their daily shuttle service and also the special deal with the local taxi service when the shuttle times did not suit our schedule. It is very easy to have dinner in the town of Ortigia and get a taxi back to the hotel, if you want to experience the magic or Ortigia at night (parking your car in Ortigia is a pain, so do use their shuttle and taxi arrangements). We ate most of our meals at the restaurant at the hotel and it was consistently excellent. We love seafood and everything on the menu was fantastic. The service at the restaurant is excellent and the atmosphere of dining in the romantic setting is very special. Our Unique Suite was full of character and had plenty of room for us. We loved the spa bath upstairs and the split level suite. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which was a relief in the humid Sicilian late Summer. It is perfectly quiet so you will get a very good nights sleep here. Breakfast is extensive and is a balance of sweet and savoury items. If you can't find anything there to like I question your enjoyment of food. The grounds of the hotel are just BEAUTIFUL. I loved all the little touches like the hammocks and lounges in the grounds to relax in. The pool is huge and never felt crowded. We had coffees and Aperol Spritz sundowners by the pool from the poolside cafe, which was so relaxing. Most of all though, what makes this place special, are the staff. The staff here are magnificent in making you feel welcome. A big shout out to Manuela who was always excellent in helping us. Also Ana (I think) who checked us in and of course the incredible Giusi who takes a hands-on approach to running her wonderful hotel. It was incredibly satisfying to see a strong women running such an excellent hotel so professionally to such a high standard in male dominated Sicily. We can't wait to return here. Just a tip: its an easy one hour drive from Catania Airport to here in a rental car. You may have seen reviews saying the roads aren't great. It is true that there are some bad pot holes in some of the local roads but we had a small SUV which didn't have any issues with the roads. The parking at the hotel is very easy. You then have the option to get to the UNESCO town on Noto which is only 45 minutes away, or the place we loved, Modica, which is an hour away. There is so much to see in the area, or you can just relax and enjoy the beautiful grounds of the hotel. We are already trying to work out when we can fit in a vacation back to this fabulous place!

Such a lovely hotel in a quiet spot, with beautiful gardens, pools and rooms. The staff were friendly, helpful and generally all round great. The food was always tasty and the restaurant beautiful. And the breakfast spread is a sight to behold! It was our daughter's birthday whilst we were there and they made a great cake for her and sang happy birthday. It is a bit out of town so if you want to see places, hire a car. There is a shuttle service every day though down into Ortigia which was a good price. Thank you everyone at the Hotel Borgo Pantano, you were fantastic.

This is one of the most relaxing resorts that we have stayed at over the years. We had an executive junior suite which did not disappoint. As others have mentioned, the daily breakfast was extensive and offered an array of both savory and sweet options. We enjoyed spending what little free time that we had at the pool...we could have used a few days more just to enjoy the resort's large property!! The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. If we ever return to this area we would definitely stay again.

Stayed here 3 nights, the hotel is modern very clean and comfortable with very professional and helpful staff. All set in beautiful relaxing surroundings. The location is conveniently located to reach Siracusa with a shuttle service to the city (book @ €15 return x room). The breakfast was very good with a very extensive selection to choose from and along with the restaurant service helpful with pleasant atmospher. The large pool is beautiful, well maintained and a plesure to swim in. The staff are very attentive and their knowlede of the area excelant and very helpful. All in all a great experience so we would happily stay here again.

The place is a beautiful oasis of calm and natural surroundings. The staff too many to mention are a credit to Josie and the hotel. They are truly professional and willing to help with anything, nothing is to much trouble. The shuttle service is reliable and excellent value. Siracusa and Ortigia are both great places to visit. Will definitely return in the future, need to go home and rest my stomach from all the fabulous food served every day. Half board is excellent

There are 4 hotels in the world that I would stay at again, and this is the only one that I actually have. It’s a little bit of paradise, close to one of my favourite places anywhere, Ortigia. The hotel is spotlessly clean, our room this time was a Junior Suite which was spacious and comfortable. The restaurant food is very good for a hotel and quite reasonably priced. Breakfast has to be seen to be believed - fantastic selection of all sorts. The pool is a big, free-form affair - warm and very clean. The staff are all warm, friendly and helpful. This, our second stay, was lovely. Very highly recommended but book early, it always seems busy. (Can’t imagine why! Lol)

Being here before we had an idea what to expect, the surroundings, the breakfast, some of the staff over the years may have changed but all have remained very helpful, friendly and professional. The owner Giusy surely sets the example, it shows she runs the hotel with love, she is very hands on and makes sure her guests are enjoying their stay. Super highly recommended

People: Every member of staff we interacted with - including the very attentive owner- was fantastic. Very helpful, friendly & nothing was too much trouble. Location: Exactly as described by the hotel…in the middle of nowhere! But it is quiet and relaxed; a nice contrast to Syracuse / Ortigia which are 15/20 mins away. The hotel provides a shuttle mini bus ( i think) 4 times a day @ 15 euro with the last one going in at 4.30 and coming back at 7.30. In addition they have a deal with an excellent taxi firm (25 euro) that we used quite a few times. Driving and parking in Ortigia at night wasn’t much fun as it was really busy so we much preferred the shuttle/taxi option. Room: We chose to upgrade to an Exec Junior Suite (from a junior suite). The attraction was that this room type has a balcony/private outdoor space. On reflection I’m not sure this was necessary. There wasn’t any view from the balcony to speak of and the space itself was large but bland with just a couple of chairs and small table. These rooms seem to be favoured by families (the rooms are split level so you can put beds downstairs) so they were a bit noisier than might otherwise been the case. But more importantly there were lots of nicer places to sit within the hotel, such as around the pool, in the gardens or courtyard. Pool & grounds: All fantastic. Spacious. Lovely. Quiet. Food: Good overall. Breakfast consists of an extraordinary spread of pastries, savouries, cakes and an eggs/bacon option. Lunch and Dinner options (with daily specials available at Dinner) were ok/good with a short but well chosen and not overly expensive wine list. We ate in the hotel at night a number of times because it was such an easy option & nice setting. Overall: A really nice hotel and would recommend; especially if you have a car and the relaxed environment is what you are looking for.

Hotel Borgo Pantano was the perfect home base for our day trips to Siracusa, Noto, and San Lorenzo. From the moment we checked in, we were greeted with warm and friendly service. We got there a little early, but were allowed to check our luggage, get changed into our suits and go use the amazing pools and explore the beautiful grounds! It was so hot while we were there, so having a hotel with a pool was a must. We did travel as a family. This hotel is very family friendly. They have a kids day club. I am not sure of the details but want to say it might be included, but not sure as my kids did not partake. There is a playroom for kids, and a separate kiddie pool tucked away near a small playground. But my kids enjoyed the main pool that has a nice shallow area and ledge to hang out on. We stayed in the family suit, which was a great size and super clean. The breakfast was the best we had during our time in Sicily. A great variety and some nice different options each day. Siracusa & Ortigia is only a short 10-15 min drive. Once you get to the main road it is pretty much a straight shot. If driving to the hotel there are two roads to get there and one of them has some huge pot holes, so either be careful or confirm the address to put into your GPS. We also had the hotel make a reservation for us at Lido Beach Agua in San Lorenzo, which they get at a lower rate vs booking it on your own. It was a beautiful beach club. I can't say enough about this hotel and will certainly be back the next time we are in Sicily!
