This past September my husband and I stayed at Hotel Villa Ducale after staying at their sister hotel: Villa Carlotta which are both part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. We loved experiencing staying above Taormina with incredible views of the Mediterranean Sea and Mt. Etna. Hotel Villa Ducal was originally aristocratic family home. Such a magical luxury boutique hotel. We have stayed at Hotel Villa Carlotta the past four visits to Taormina Sicily and always have eaten at Villa Ducale so to actually stay was such a treat ! The room we stayed decorated with every detail with a fabulous large Italian marble bathroom And luxury bedding. We had a lovely terraced balcony with panoramic views of the Bay of Naxos, the town of Taormina. Absolutely breathtaking. The gracious owners Andrea and Rosaria Quartucci and their staff made our stay perfect in every way. Dining was fantastic from the Sicilian buffet breakfast to the cocktail hour watching the sunset to the incredible dinners with candlelit tables. Thank you for taking care of our every need. A special thank you Rosaria and to your staff: Daria, Simon, Chef Santina, Super Max and Chef Freddy

Hotel's Favourite
We loved our stay at Hotel Villa Ducale! The views were amazing as it is located high above the main town. It is such a beautiful small hotel with friendly staff and beautiful views! It was quiet and peaceful. We didn't mind walking the 600 steps to the old town and back again. There is a shuttle service as well to take you to town that we used as well. Breakfast was delicious and we had dinner in the restaurant and the food was excellent and the views even better! We used the pool after our walks up the stairs back to the hotel but it is not heated and so was quite refreshing! The room was lovely and the bed was comfortable. Our favourite stay in Sicily.

This beautiful, boutique hotel cannot do enough to make your stay extraordinary! The staff are so friendly and can help you get the best from Taormina. And the restaurant with its view of Mt Etna is a delight for the most discerning foodie. Go, you won’t regret it!

The Hotel Villa Ducale was beyond our expectations - truly fabulous! The room, the food, the view - all excellent! We especially want to thank and commend Guinluco (not sure of the correct spelling) who was welcoming, kind, and offered many suggestions for restaurants, parking, the shuttle service, getting gas, and other helpful ideas. His English was excellent and it was our luck that he was at the hotel! Thank you again!

We had a lovely time at this amazing hotel with a top notch and friendly staff who Pamper you and look after your every need. You literally are on top of the world when you stay at Villa Ducale. The hotel is very close to the hilltop Church of the Madonna La Rocca and that is key because you are very close to the foot path down into Taormina which is no cars and leads you to Ancient Greek theater which is a must see! What we love about the hotel is the dining room where all the windows are fully opened weather permitting so the fresh air while you are eating breakfast is amazing. We also had dinner two nights at the hotel and the food and cocktails were great. At night all the lights of Taormina and Naxos sparkle so very romantic enjoy all of you lovers! Our room had a lovely terrace very private for sipping that great Sicilian wine. Highly recommend booking a day tour to Etna with guide and wine tasting at Gambino winery.

We just stayed at the Hotel Villa Ducale for 4 nights and it’s charm stands out. It is a very old, boutique hotel situated above the town of Taormina and the Mediterranean. The walk down to the main part of town has a few stairs but, well worth the view. The lobby area, sitting area and dining room were very clean, comfortable. Our balcony off our room was nice. Breakfast was delicious and the view each morning was stunning! Thank you Massimo for my espresso each day—your service was incredible. In fact, the entire staff was so kind, thoughtful and so very helpful for all of our needs. We even got a glass of prosecco during our check in. Nice touch! Great option in Taormina!

Sicily was the last stop on our annual vacation and we decided on Taormina as the base for traveling during a 7 day period. But which hotel? After lots of research, we chose Villa Ducale. Pros: - Views are magnificent from the restaurant and patios of the individual rooms. You get a 180 degree panorama with Taormina and the Mediterranean down the hills to the east and Mt Etna to the west. - Great people on the reception desk. Very helpful with information, reservations and arrangements for luggage and keeping our car safe in their parking lots. - Very good food…especially at the included buffet breakfast which had lots of fresh ingredients…and the servers were quite personable - Bathroom was nice with excellent water pressure - Shuttle service to and from Taormina in the hotel van was an added convenience - A paved trail starting 3-4 blocks from Villa Ducale allows people to walk down to the shopping district (20-30 minutes) and climb back up (we didn’t try). Vistas are amazing. - The mountain top town of Castelmora is a 5-7 minute drive up the road from Villa Ducale and offered charming shops and restaurants with “top of the world” views Cons: - We had a Junior Suite where the only difference from a “regular room” was some extra space for a large bench - Try as we might, there was no access to English language TV stations with current news. That was especially tough since the Middle East was thrown into turmoil on day #1 of our 7 day stay. - Housekeeping didn’t seem to change the sheets more than every 3 days, but they cleaned the room each day - Toilet paper seemed to be single ply or verrrrry thin 2 ply Despite those few qualms, we’re glad we chose Villa Ducale and recommend it to other travelers.

This hotel provided a lovely experience especially with customer service. I called about the A/C and a technician explained the remote to me. I called for more towels and they delivered toute suite. I had a problem with a restaurant reservation on the same Saturday night and they fixed my error and secured a table for dinner for 6 people. Bravo et molte grazie! Our bed and room furniture were very comfortable. We were graciously greeted with a glass of prosecco when we arrived.

Hotel Villa Ducale is a very special place. It sits high above the loud bustle of Taormina and its location is peaceful with the most beautiful views. My husband and I loved taking the medieval stairway down to town every day (it's about 550 steps and takes about 15 minutes to get down/up) but for those who don't want to or cannot make this trek, the hotel has regular shuttle services throughout the day. The staff, especially Santina, truly goes above and beyond. This is an upscale hotel not just in terms of the property and amenities, but due to the special treatment we received from the staff. Our room had a balcony and a terrace, amazing water pressure in the shower, and a very comfortable bed. We loved and relied on the complimentary mini bar that had sparkling and still water, juices, and prosecco, which was refilled every time we had housekeeping/turndown service. The housekeeping was impeccable. It was so wonderful to return to a reliably made-up room and stocked mini bar, especially with so much walking. The breakfast was bountiful, so pretty and absolutely delicious. My favorite dish I ate in Sicily was at the hotel's restaurant (rigatoni alla norma). I got it twice and wish I had time for a third. Even the chef makes rounds at every meal to check in. Santina helped us secure dinner reservations in town, rides, and a day at the beach club which made planning our trip effortless. All the locals at these businesses regard Villa Ducale highly and when they saw our reservation was arranged via the hotel, they bent over backwards for us. Some of the other reviewers who complain about the location don't understand the magic of this hotel. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else should we get to return to Taormina!

This is a great facility with great views. The staff is very friendly and very accommodating. Location is good as it is easy to get to restaurants and town and beach and Mt Edna. The chef did a great job as the food/menu is outstanding. We (3 couples) had a great stay. I highly recommend this place.
