This hotel may not be much to look at from the outside, but thankfully it’s a very different story on the inside. The public areas and bedrooms are very nicely furnished with modern décor and large bedrooms with well appointed bathrooms. Staff in both the bar and reception were helpful and the housekeeping staff were excellent – a credit to... More

This hotel was booked by a company that had invited me to Florence, therefore I didn't expect much. However, it turned out to be better than I expected. Nice clean room, a bit small, large bathroom with a slim slippery bathtub, a shower between the toilet and the bidet(!) but a good comfortable twin bed. Breakfast was good, not spectacular,... More

I must admit, florence wasn't what I expected on my walk there from the station. I'd come from Milan which seemed like a mini London to me, the part of florence i visited didn't have much going on, we went for a wedding, and although the venue and nearby river were stunning, this hotel was the highlight of my trip.... What an absolutely unbelievable hotel. We stayed here for 1 night and I couldn't express how amazing this was. We were able to walk in and out of Florence so easily - no need for a taxi or anything! We arrived super early but the receptionist said there was a room available for us if we wanted to check in.... More

Great location, staff accommodating, clean, quiet...perfect for us. We stayed here for a week and enjoyed the entire time. We managed to walk to all the places we wanted to see and more. The tours we booked were excellent and the hotel helped us on getting these. The tour company provides pick-up at the hotel and transportation to the meeting... More

Florence definitely requires prebooking an hotel. After checking out about seven hotels without vacancies we found the Hotel Michelangelo. O f course no bargain rates in this town, but I did manage to haggle free breakfasts for the quoted price of 207.- Euros. The rooms are very nicely furnished and comfortable. Located near the center of Florence it was very... More

I enjoyed staying in this hotel very much. It was clean, it was spacious. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were soft. Many of the sites are within walking distance and Florence is breathtaking.

We stayed at this Hotel for 3 nights with a bicycle tour group. We walked from the Train station to the Hotel which was probably a good half mile on rough sidewalks and streets with luggage which is doable if you are strong and traveling lightly. We had a 70 lb bike case and large suitcases so it was a... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
