We were in Florence for a wedding and this was the hotel for all of the guests, it was a perfect base to explore the city from, on a quiet street near some embassies and nice restaurants. It was also a short walk from all the sights and in the city. Couldn't have been a more pleasant stay, the breakfasts...

This was our second stay at Hotel Montebello Splendid. Each room is different but all are very comfortable and spacious. The breakfast room is cheerful and the breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Employees are friendly and helpful. MS is a former villa beautifully converted to a small hotel.

Great hotel in the heart of Florence. It has parking too if you are renting a car. Front desk very helpful with tickets and maps of Florence. Rooms are lovely, bathrooms are lovely too. If you get the breakfast included in your room cost, it is well worth it.

Cannot be faulted. Hotel room and amenities impeccable. Customer service of hotel staff excellent. Wonderful setting in the bar area. Ate in the restaurant every night of the stay on a short break and food quality was outstanding. Good selection at breakfast too.Would highly recommend.

Beautiful small hotel and expert staff. Very pleasant common areas, bar and dinning room. Opulently decorated suite with well thought thought out tec upgrades. Loved our terrace. Highly recommend for a small hotel well located but out of the congestion of touristy Florence

It was nothing romantic to stay there with electric cable cross the room. In my room was only one snuff. It is a little bit difficult to survive today with so many electrical stuffs in the pocket with only one snuff in the room.

We stayed in a deluxe room here for three nights. The room and bathroom were both spacious and clean. The shower was wonderful, although there was a high step to get in which may present accessibility issues for some guests. The staff was very attentive and helpful. They helped get us museum tickets at the last minute. The buffet breakfast...

Stayed only for 1 night (in two rooms); if our stay in Florence was any longer, I would have changed accommodation. Public areas are smart however the rooms are very tired. The AC is very noisy and non effective, the room was too hot to have an uninterrupted nights sleep. The bathroom large however the fittings in poor state. Staff...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
