Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was fantastic and the hotel was very quiet. The rooms were spacious, beautiful and clean. It is in a great location with just a 5 minute walk to the Duomo. The breakfast buffet was the best hotel breakfast we have ever had: cured meats, cheeses, eggs, breakfast meats, fresh fruit, and a sweets table that was incredible. We will certainly stay here again on our next visit.

Hotel's Favourite
Everything exceeding expectations—incredible breakfast with fresh fruit, pastries made in-house, meats/cheeses, eggs/bacon, and a chocolate fountain to fondue whatever you dream up. The room was clean, quiet, and larger than any other place we stayed in Rome or Venice. They have a happy hour each day with free snacks that could be skipped if you eat dinner before 8 or is invaluable if you’re trying to eat after 9 with the Italians. The hotel has a modern flare with blue led lights in the shower and a cool spiral staircase that leads to a glass lookout on the roof. Location is ideal and in the middle of everything. Somehow, the room stayed quiet. We won’t even look for a different place when we’re back in Florence.

The Hotel Spadai is a wonderful property in the heart of Florence, steps from the Duomo, and an easy walking distance to the major sites and museums. We stayed five nights, and really loved the comfort and convenience of the hotel. We were welcomed with a complimentary bottle of wine to enjoy in our room, and we also enjoyed the happy hour at the hotel bar. The staff was very attentive - at breakfast one morning my wife was reminiscing about some chocolate crepes she had years ago in France. The staff must have overheard, and the next morning they brought her one! The breakfast buffet was included in the rate and is absolutely amazing—an array of hot foods, breads and cakes, charcuterie, and fresh fruits. The property is only about eight years old, and the room (we had booked a “comfort double” directly on the hotel’s website) was very quiet and cozy with a modern bathroom. The soundproofing was excellent and we slept very well. We will not stay anywhere else when we return to Florence!

Room Tip: The hotel is right next door to Eataly which is great for a quick sandwich, snacks, espresso, etc.

In all of my 71 years of life and travels, I have never stayed in a hotel as wonderful as Hotel Spadai in Florence, Italy! The rooms were lovely, and the daily breakfast buffet was even more amazing than the photos we saw online. The location was perfect-- close to everything that we wanted to see. Best of all, every member of the staff was kind, helpful, thoughtful, and caring. They went far above all of our expectations. I highly recommend Hotel Spadai, and we can't wait to go back!

Only 10 minutes walk from the Unita tram stop,Hotel Spadai is located 5 minutes away from The Duomo. Unassuming from the outside, the public area is tastefully restrained in style & the bar area has the cosy appearance of a drawing room. Most importantly the staff are exceptional from the moment you arrive. Be it at reception or the wonderful barman who made us a great martini & negroni. Oh be there from 6pm for the lovely food served at happy hour. Rooms & bathroom spotlessly clean, modern & refined.Extremely comfortable bed. Beds were turned down in the evening & towels changed daily. Breakfasts amazing & waiting staff couldn’t do enough. Even catering to our strange coffee requests. The restuarant manager even brought me some unrequested pancakes because he thought I should try them. Would we come back? Without hesitation!

An all-around lovely experience. Great location. Contemporary, clean, and comfortable rooms. Warm hospitality. The complimentary breakfast was a memorable treat. And Cristiano, the breakfast host, was wonderful. Looking forward to returning someday.

Fantastic location near the Duomo sets the stage for a modern, well equipped hotel. Our stay was three nights and was a pleasure to stay at. The staff all spoke wonderful English so it helped when we needed to interact or ask questions. The rooms were clean, modern and had all of the modern amenities you should expect. Having a fully stocked mini bar that is complimentary is a nice addition. Only complaint, and it’s a small one, is the shower is very small. Highly recommend

Hotel Spadai could not be more perfectly situated to enjoy the historic city center of Florence- it is literally steps from the Duomo. You enter to friendly staff willing to help you, and a super helpful bellman to assist with luggage with the most cheerful smile. In the hustle bustle of busier than I ever expected Florence, Spadai offers a peaceful escape with a calm, serene setting and elegant rooms. The rooms were quiet, clean, had a lovely wood ceiling, and a beautiful bathroom plus a superb shower with strong pressure. We were left with treats in our room for Easter and personal notes throughout the stay. As if that wasn’t enough, the breakfast room was decadent. I could not believe how plentiful the fruit platters, baked goods, cheese, yogurt, egg and other items were available. There is the most lovely and sweet employee named Sahar who greeted us every morning with the biggest smile and served a perfect cappuccino. She always wished us a great day and I think she represents the best of Spadai hospitality. We were so busy touring that we never got to the early evening aperitif but it looks wonderful on social media videos!! I was with my mother who has traveled the world and she found Sapai flawless, Thank you for the most memorable visit to Tuscany.

BEWARE when booking this hotel if you go through booking.com. After booking two rooms and prepared to pay for them with credit card in hand, at the end of the booking it said I would pay the property directly. Booking.com sent me a confirmation that my reservation was confirmed immediately after I booked it. I was out of town and away from email for a couple of days over the Easter holiday and when I returned I received an email that my reservation had been cancelled due to nonpayment. I called booking.com and they said they couldn't help me. I emailed the hotel and they said there was nothing they could do either. They told me to go back and rebook it. I originally booked the rooms for $450 a night. When I went back to reserve two more rooms they were $1100 a night. This is BAD business and a TERRIBLE way to treat guests.

Dear TonyabP8020SA, We would like to take the time to respond to your review in order to explain to you and to all other people what happened with your booking. You booked two NON-REFUNDABLE rooms for September 2024 through booking.com. On the website is clearly written that, for these room categories, the payment must be made at the moment of the reservation. Through the booking messaging system, we twice sent you the link to make the payment for the rooms and we answered to all your questions. After 3 days without making the payment, the link expired and the system automatically cancelled your reservation and sent to you an automatically email at the same email address. It was only after this email that you contacted us and even if we had offered to help you to rebook, as your request was for September and therefore the hotel is still fully available, you refused it. We would like to emphasize that we did not refuse to help you; actually, we asked for your telephone number to solve the problem as quickly as possible but you never call us back. In our email, as you can read, we told you that it was not possible to reactivate the cancelled booking, but you could make a new one. Lastly, regarding the rate, kindly note that the prices for September have remained mostly unchanged, you can go and check both on our site and on the booking.com. Of course, if you have checked availability for other room categories, larger than the standard one, the price is higher. We hope we further clarified the matter, Best Regards Jessica Resident Manager
