...as the title says, I'm not sure how this hotel is 4-star. I've stayed at 5-star hotels around the world, JW Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, in Europe, Asia, North America and I would say that the Grand Hotel Minerva standards and service levels are on the same levels as the luxury hotels mentioned above.

The moment you walk in the lobby you get a whiff of this lovely scent. The lobby is grand, inviting, has lots of seating and welcoming. From there, Giacomo took care of our check-in and escorted us to our suite and provided a brief tour.

After checking in we headed to the rooftop to see the pool -- and wow what an incredible view of Firenze including the Duomo. You won't regret taking a swim or dipping your toes in the pool while sipping a drink and admiring the sunset views. We finished every night there and had the bubbles and berries drink - the hotel's signature drink. We also had their hamburger which was exactly what we needed after 2 weeks of pasta and pizza. The rooftop staff were all top class and trained to very high standards -- i've worked in travel and hospitality before. Every detail is measured and calculated. Very attentive, professional, and warm hearted staff to make your stay incredible.

Our rooms were kept very tidy and clean throughout the stay -- very modern and felt luxurious. We had a junior suite for 3 nights and the space was perfect for us to lounge around while getting a solid night's sleep (warning - bring earplugs if you don't want to be disturbed by the clock).

Now, I have to say that our stay was special because I asked Giacomo to help me with my last minute proposal. Fortunately he accepted the request and this is where the bar/rooftop staff went above and beyond to help coordinate the plan and music request. They even took videos of the moment -- and apparently this was a first for them, so massive thanks to them for stepping up and making sure my proposal was PERFECT. We will never forget the staff and will return to Florence one day for our anniversary!

To conclude, top staff, top service, comfy and classy rooms, everything about this hotel is 5-star. Nothing less.

Wonderful stay in the Grand Hotel Minerva. I booked a room a few minutes before arriving at the hotel because the hotel I booked in advanced did not receive our confirmation and was full. Fortunately, the welcoming staff from Grand Hotel Minerva made our stay unforgettable! The room was immediately ready, and we were upgraded in a lovely junior suite. Excellent service, from the front desk to the pool. Night shift from the cleaning services, offering you a fresh bottle of water for the night and tidying the room before to make it perfect when you get back after dinner.

COVID safety rules very well implemented, for example you can book slots at the swimming pool to make sure it’s not too crowded. Also the breakfast offers a la carte option to avoid buffet as much as possible, and the buffet is served by one of the waiters.

I can only recommend this place, excellent service and very modern facilities. The rooftop offers one of the best view of Florence !

Stayed here as a couple in September. Firstly the hotel is centrally situated close to the rail station approx 5 to 10 minutes walk to the hotel located in the square of Santa Maria Novella. We had a room that overlooked the square which was a good size, nice and quiet and very clean on the first floor. The bathroom was also a good size with toiletries replenished each day. The reception staff were helpful with enquiries.
Without doubt the roof top terrace is the selling point, offering views over Florence and it was great to have a drink and look at the views and relax after long days site seeing.
The hotel is central to all the main squares and attractions, the Duomo etc and within walking distance of the Ponte Vecchio

Breakfast was varied with hot and cold buffet with prompt service. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening as there is far too many places to experience and plenty of places to eat.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel as a base for sight seeing in Florence and I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in a junior suite and benefited from a package of complementary elements like champagne in the room. Pre arrival service from Serena over the phone always available and helpful. She helped with a few bookings so that when we arrived we could relax immediately.

Management of space on the popular roof top pool was excellent and safe given covid rules. The same was also true of the romantic meal on the intimate rooftop restaurant overlooking the Florencian sun set.

The room was also perfect with its own balcony overlooking the square.

Transfer arrangements to and from hotel also worked perfectly.

The Grand Hotel Minerva in Florence is truely an excellent hotel solution in the center of Florence. Located a few minutes’ walk from the train station and 5 minutes’ walk from the Duomo square, it is really ideal for tourism as well as business. The reception staff proved to be outstanding, very committed to make your staying unforgettable. The room was actually a mini suite, very comfortable and elegant. Room service and cleaning at the top. Also the hall, the dining room and the other public areas of the hotel are finely furnished and decorated. The terrace at the 6th floor, also with a large pool, offers a breathless view of Santa Maria Novella church and square, with a 360 degrees’ view on the city and the hills. Great choice for breakfast, with a variety of continental breakfast and Tuscan delicatessens. My future choice in Florence.

Hotel staff were friendly and inviting. The hotel was very clean and smelled lovely as we entered the lobby area, I’m sure the aroma was strawberries. Our room was a suite, it was perfect, the size, the cleanliness and the service. Breakfast was yummy, it was a shame we were never presented with a menu our whole stay as we found out the last day they actually served hot breakfast (I saw another guest order bacon and eggs!) The breakfast staff seemed too busy, juggling many orders at one time and not remembering to serve food.
The pool area was wonderful, not crowded at all, one day we had the pool to ourselves. I had an Aperol spritz by the pool and I was shocked that an alcohol drink wasn’t served with nibbles (especially at 15€ a drink), apparently the pigeons like the nibbles too, maybe better to use a cake cover for poolside nibbles than to make guests go without. The pool bar staff were friendly and always helped my kids if they needed towels.
The gym was well equipped and spotless, a beautiful gym with a large, deep jacuzzi on the side.
All in all a wonderful hotel, I highly recommend this gem of a hotel situated in the heart of Florence, the walking distance to all the major sites and family friendly.

We stayed here for a special birthday and it did not disappoint. From the welcome by Serena at check in who sorted uffizi gallery tickets and have us great restaurant recommendations to the bar staff who make the best cocktails to the friendly maids who serviced our room, everything was perfect. The rooftop pool is an added bonus to cool off after pounding the Firenze streets. Breakfast is a delight, amazing choice of fruit, fresh croissants, bread, ham and cheeses plus scrambled egg, bacon and sausage. The rooms are a good size with a modem bathroom and air conditioning that works a treat without being noisy. All this does come at a price, drinks and food aren’t cheap (cocktails 18-20 euros) but it is all delicious and worth every penny. Located on the piazza Santa Maria it is in a lovely location close to the major sights. When we return to Florence we will be staying here again

I really can’t help but say this hotel is amazing. The attention to detail starts with the frontdesk people, to room cleanings, breakfast buffet, and the hotel restaurant. Stay long enough and you’ll see the little touches that make this place special. This hotel will be my base in Florence from now on.

As far as location this hotel is next to the train station making it a first time visitor friendly hotel. My room was perfect. Also, I have to rave about the shower because once you get in you don’t want to get out. Shower heaven for tall people. I had lunch/dinner at the restaurant and you’ll be missing out if you skip it. Worth trying at least once. You can easily spend the same amount or more for crappy food at nearby restaurants. I’ve done it. Here everything I had there was a winner. Slow paced enjoyable meal

If there is one thing that needs improvement is that they need a better tea selection for breakfast or in room. I’m a tea drinker and felt like I was drinking lower end supermarket tea.

The hotel was wonderfully situated. The staff are amazing, very helpful and friendly. The bedroom was perfect. I think there are a few irritations. They provide complementary tea & coffee in your room but you have to pay £5 for a small jug of milk!!! Breakfast was good but hot food provided was usually cold (need to heat up those warming containers) and please don't serve ketchup in cheap plastic sachets - not what I expect from an upmarket hotel. But would still highly recommend.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Minerva to attend a wedding in Tuscany.
The rooms were impeccably cleaned daily, the roof top pool had a beautiful view, and the concierge was extremely helpful.
Most of all I want to comment on the restaurants.
We ate at the hotel more often than planned because the food was truly delicious and the service, exceptional.
The manager of the restaurant, Paolo, made us feel like family he was truly the magic that changed our time there from a nice hotel stay to the endearing experience that we will always remember.
