After a wonderful hotel stay in Venice, was VERY disappointed in Hotel Malaspina! The service was not pleasant, the room was drab and dark, one light never worked, tv worked once for 2 hrs and after complaining said they'd TRY to fix, but never did anything about light or tv! Seemed put-out if you asked for directions and was not...

rooms are not very big but very cosy, all decorated with the antique Florence style, the staff is very serviceable, always attending any request or question you may ask. Breakfast is humble but exquisite.

My friend and I stayed for three nights recently -we loved it -it was clean, stylish, comfortable, breakfast was good and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was beautiful with comfortable beds and the bathroom had a shower over the bath and a separate shower plus a marble sink unit and bidet and toilet . Breakfast was plentiful- a coffee machine...

The hotel was a little outdated and in need of some refurbishment especially the ensuite bathrooms. The breakfast was a bit of a let down as there was only one coffee machine which was very slow hence a long queue caused problems to others trying to help themselves to the continental breakfast. Also the one member of staff had trouble...

I stayed here for three night. As a solo traveller I had a single room with ensuite. Only downside was no Air con but other than that, fab. The safe key is free and so is bottled water too. Great buffet style breakfast and not far from main attractions, about 10 to 15 min walk and staff very friendly and...

We stayed 6 nights at this hotel. It wasn't clean enought!!They changed our towels only after we told them and they NEVER changed our bedsheets!!! The breakfast was poor and they didn't refill the trays. Although the receptionist was polite and the location is ok.

This hotel was great as far as the location goes otherwise a basic 3 star hotel, and having read reviews before booking I was disappointed with a few things, namely very small and poorly lighted bathroom, water pressure frustrating so had to put up with trickling water to take a shower, likewise with sink water. The fridge in our room...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
With the same hospitality accorded Dante at the Castello di Fosdinovo in Lunigiana, the descendants of the Marquis Malaspina have opened their Florence residence on Piazza dell’Indipendenza to offer modern hospitality with that touch and culture that makes Hotel Malaspina a truly charming hotel. The lady of the house, Benedetta Torrigiani Malaspina, has created elegant rooms with period furniture with inviting halls and parlors, where the intimate atmosphere resembling a private home is enhanced by the excellent comforts, superior among those proposed by 3 star hotels in Florence. Starting with the garage just steps from the hotel (a valet takes your car and brings it back when you want it) and reception open 24h.The TV room and lobby are very pleasant, ideal situations for relaxing or socializing over a cup of coffee or glass of Tuscan wine served by the bar reserved for guests and open from 8 in the morning until midnight. Those staying at Hotel Malaspina for business can also use a conference room which can hold up to 20 people. The pretty breakfast room offers a plentiful buffet with sweet and savory foods, typical Florentine sweets, juices and hot beverages. Guests can obtain all the information they need at the reception for visiting the city and our concierge service makes reservations for tickets to the most important museums and sights, music and theater performances, recommends and makes reservations for restaurants, guided tours and tours to the surrounding areas and transfers to and from the airport (plane and train tickets can also be purchased). ... more   less
