Very nice location within a short walking distance to the centre of Florence. Quiet nice street. Our room was not ready when we arrived - around 11, but on the last day no late check out was possible, 11:30 at the latest. Very nice design, loved the room decor. But it needs restoration- the shower had stains of mold and... More

We stayed for one night. Lovely bedrooms, bathroom a little small and need of upgrade but for the cost the hotel is good. In particular Giada, in reception is so friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, she is definitely an asset to the hotel. Breakfast was good no complaints.

We stayed here as part of a package holiday in Florence and it was a very nice hotel, clean, with reasonable size rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful and when we arrived back late in the evening and fancied a nightcap they had no hesitation opening the bar for us. It's about ten minutes walk along the banks of... More

We got to the Hotel after a short walk from the train station and were greeted by a happy young lady who checked us in right away. We got to our room and everything we needed was right there. We freshened up and then went down stairs to get a beer and ask a few questions of the area. We... More

This hotel was truly the only downside to your wonderful trip to Italy. The gentleman at the counter was extremely rude from the start, we arrived at 12 and upon checking in he told us that we had a room with 2 single beds. I informed him that we had asked for a double bed and he said that's not... More

This is a great little place. Relatively close walking distance to everything - especially if you walk along the river, as it's not as hard to get lost that way. The older gentleman at the front counter was a little grumpy on the first day when I tried to check in but the young lady was a delight. She was... More

Stayed late May 2016. Hotel with great character, quiet location, good breakfast, and wonderful staff. Returned some items I left with speed and at a reasonable cost. Great toiletries and good coffee machine in room. Fabulous Murano light fixtures. Highly recommended.

My wife and I stayed at De Rose Palace Hotel for three nights in June 2016. Upon arrival the staff at reception were lovely, very helpful and gave us lots of information on the city. Throughout our stay they continued to greet us with smiles and were always happy to help. The location of the hotel is brilliant, 10 minute... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
