I rate the hotel average as it is not worth the money. The rooms are much smaller and has a limited minibar with no in-room services.Bathroom is also smaller. Two great things - breakfast and location. It is just across the Florence train station (SMN). From this place, moving around the city is quite easy. I recommend this hotel to...

It is not my first time in Florence, but my first time staying at the Diplomat. Good staff, good location, good breakfast. I would consider a room off main street due to tram. We were ok, but it was Christmas day and calm.

The hotel is in front of the train&bus station of Santa Maria la Novella, so it is very practical when you arrive, when visiting the historic quartiers of Firenze and if you plan to visit (by bus/train or hiring a car at the station) some other place in la Toscana. The facilities are new, modern and cozy at the same...

Stayed here for two nights, after arriving from Pisa by train, this hotel is right opposite the main Train Station & walking distance of city center area for shops, & local market bargains. Room was nice, clean & adequate for the stay. Took a day pass for hop-on hop-off bus for the city sight seeing trip. The views were great...

An unforgettable experience! The staff outstanding and very helpful, the location so close and accessible to the train station, easy access to visit the surrounding areas in a walking distance. Not to worry if you forgot the electric transformer, you'll be able to get it at the plaza, walking distance from the hotel. The breakfasts excellent, a meal that would...

What a nice place, the staff all friendly and accommodated, I would come back and recommend to friends! The fact that their location is literally across from the train station makes it so much accessible to move around and visit different places, like The Tower of Pisa, Luca, those were the places we visite this time. Recommend this hotel highly!...

We stayed here 6 October 2016 thru 9 October 2016. Very nice hotel. Very convenient to the train station. Our room was clean and surprisingly quiet given our location across the street from the train station and adjacent to a bus terminal. The room was a good sized room. Bathroom a bit on the small size with a toilette installed...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
