One block from the Duomo on a busy street is this hotel that has wonderful charm. Lots of antiques, statues and paintings cram the main floor. The only bad part is the walk up the wonderful old stone stairs (3 flights) a killer with a lot of luggage. But there is a wonderful fresco on the top landing and the...

My husband and I found this quaint pensione through a past "New York Times" travel review, prior to a week stay in Florence, Italy. Evelyn runs this inn in an efficient and caring manner, and enjoys meeting those who travel through her fair city. She sets reservations only via phone or fax, and being of Welsh descent; speaks English, along...

You have to call or fax to make a reservation here, but it is worth it. The owner, Evelyn, is absolutely wonderful. The hotel is charming and clean. The location is absolutely fabulous (steps away from the Duomo). Best of all, the price is amazing! (for Italy).

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Venice and Florence which included a 9 night stay at the Pensione. Evelyn is a lovely host and could not have been kinder or more helpful, her breakfast is a good start to the day and her recommendations of places to eat is splendid. Our group stayed in rooms 2 /...

Stayed here on reccomendation of a friend and would suggest anyone stay here! It is just the most amazing pensione you will ever visit. The halls are filled with art works, the room we had was simply enormous with fabulous furniture. Evelyn is the best host. Great suggestions on eating and places to visit and nothing seemed too much trouble...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
