Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hotel is not fancy, but our room was clean and comfortable. There was an elevator to the 4th floor unit. Breakfast offered enough selections. Staff were friendly and spoke English. We arrived after an overnight flight and were allowed to have a breakfast while they prepared a room - at 10 am! Much better than just storing luggage until check-in time. One of my most pleasant Italy moments was relaxing in the room with the window open while husband napped and listening to the nice accordian music a vendor on the street played most days. A good break from walking. Everything is convenient for walking so we did lots of that.`

This hotel ended up being a lifesaver for me and my family because I had to book a last-minute reservation for 2 rooms in mid-June 2023. Luckily they had availability. My wife and I stayed here once before about 20 years ago. I liked the room we had. It was spacious and had hardwood floors, a writing desk, and a tub with a shower. The breakfast buffet was good. The location is great, right on the Piazza SS Annunziata and it is close walking distance to Piazza del Duomo. Keep in mind that street noise is a factor since people like to congregate on the Piazza at night and the windows are not terribly thick. So you might want to bring some earplugs.

Amazing location! Walking distance from most things. Friendly reception staff and had the room cleaned each day. Basic room with a nice view of the busy street and square below. Simple breakfast not much choice but was ok. Area also felt safe returning at night. Would be worth a stay.

The only great thing about this hotel is the location. Everything within walking distance.
Air-condition hardly works. Bed table only on one side as the room was so tiny and 2nd wouldn't fit.
If you open the window for little breeze and to cool off, the noise is unbearable.
The ceiling had spiderweb.
Breakfast was good but the bartender is rude and not friendly.
We found that overall it's not good value for the money.
We wouldn't recommend it to friends and family.

I seem to have good look with Booking.com...
We recently visited Le Due Fontane Hotel and we were not disappointed! We lucked out on the parking, just happened to pull into the lot that is used by the hotel, walked around the corner to the hotel, we were warmly welcomed, given an upgrade because it was off season, and stayed in a lovely room with all the ammenities needed.

I cannot believe these reviews! I was booked on a tour which used Le Due Fontane and having read these reviews was greatly concerned. I called the tour company and voiced my concern. They assured me that there was nothing to be concerned about.THEY WERE RIGHT!! This little hotel was well located, had clean rooms,NO ODORS,NO NOISE, NO DRUNKS or ADDICTS!!! It did have the most helpful and considerate staff.Claudio was a godsend when I discovered I had been robbed.(Nowhere near the hotel) He called the police for me and then drove me to the police station. The snack bar in the hotel was so convenient because you could buy a sandwich or cappuccino and sit at one of the tables outside. It was like coming home after a long day. We sat out there in the evening talking until 11 or 11:30 at night feeling safe and secure.Breakfast was more then adequate, but the best part was that I could order a cappuccino which I prefer to Italian type morning coffee. I led a group of 8 friends and family and they all agreed with me. Is it a fancy hotel with large rooms etc. No,but would I return,ABSOLUTELY.Travel should be broadening experience and Not a replica of our everyday experience!

I have just returned from a stay of 4 nights at the Due Fontane and couldn't be more pleased. I lived in Florence for three years and stayed at the hotel with a group. The location is spectacular, within 15 minutes of everything. As stated, there is a crowd of "unsavories" lurking across the street until early in the morning. They were not pleasant to look at, but totally harmless. I was in and out at all hours and they never even gave me a glance. The selling point of the hotel however is the staff. They went out of their way to be gracious, welcoming and friendly, which if you know Florence is not easily had. They more than made up for the druggies across the street. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.

Located north of the Duomo, the hotel is a bit off the beaten track.
However, the hotel's location isn't a fatal flaw since Florence is such a compact & walkable city. We stayed at Le Due Fontane for 2 nights in late September 2003. We moved to another hotel for the remainder of our stay in Florence because there were a group of drunk men on the street below who were screaming & hollering from about 1AM to 4AM. The hotel staff told us that it wasn't their problem - they could not control what goes on outside the hotel. After additional discussion, the night manager informed us that the drunks have been partying outside the hotel almost every night for the past 2+ years. The 2 rooms we considered on what was a dark, dirty courtyard smelled musty and were inferior to the rooms on the hotel's perimeter. Stay away.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in Sept 2005. The location was very convenient, a short walk to the Duomo and the Gallery Academia. The problems start at night with many homeless people sleeping out in the square, singing and shouting well into the night. Whilst we never felt threatened, it was most unpleasant. The hotel itself was fine.

If the bed bugs don't make you sick, the toxic fumes on the top floor will. Stay away from this hotel. Richard New York
